Description: This course is designed for licensed health care professionals and students who have completed the Level 1 training in clinical hypnosis and wish to expand their competence in using clinical hypnosis. This course builds on foundational knowledge from Level 1 and emphasizes the development of practical skills, clinical decision-making, and ethical application of hypnosis.
Participants will review current perspectives on the neurophysiology of hypnosis and refine core hypnotic competencies, including advanced elicitation and intensification strategies, therapeutic hypnotic language, utilization, and the use of suggestion. Instruction includes demonstrations and discussion of hypnotic techniques such as ideomotor signaling, metaphor development, and exploratory approaches.
Clinical applications of hypnosis are presented across several common treatment concerns, including anxiety, sleep problems, depression, pain management, and habit disorders. The course also addresses ethical and professional issues relevant to hypnosis practice, including considerations related to memory, informed consent, and scope of practice.
Experiential learning allows participants to engage in structured mentored small-group practice with faculty guidance to strengthen their ability to use hypnosis, apply therapeutic techniques taught, and integrate hypnosis into treatment. This training is intended to deepen clinical confidence and expand the ethical use of hypnosis.
