Turning Over the Gavel
This is my farewell column as President of ASCH.
Incoming President Phil Colosimo and President-Elect Jeff Feldman bring tremendous experience and exciting new ideas to invigorate ASCH and its offerings in the coming year. They will be supported by a board fully staffed with new leadership in Division Chairs, Executive, and At-Large Members.
The Neuroscience of Hypnosis
Although some people may shroud their understanding of hypnosis in mysticism, the science behind the practice is profound. Hypnosis can be used as a tool to deliver therapy that allows a person to relax, detach from feelings of self-consciousness, and take on a mindset of suspended judgment (Jiang et al., 2017). Thus, they can better direct their attention internally, and become more apt to accept suggestions from the self or a practitioner (Williamson, 2019).
ASCH ASMW 2025
The ASCH 2025 Annual Scientific Meetings and Workshops is only weeks away. The theme of this year’s virtual event is the Art and Science of Clinical Hypnosis in Health Care.
Ethics, Leadership, and Policy
Are you looking for a way to contribute to both ASCH and to the field of clinical hypnosis? Then the ASCH Ethics Committee may be the right fit for you. This committee is essential to the success of ASCH as a whole and to the field of clinical hypnosis. Here are committee members make a difference:
AJCH News
After 20 years of service to ASCH, Stephen Lankton, LCSW, DAHB, FASCH, has resigned as editor of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. ASCH is extraordinarily grateful to Stephen for his many years of service to ASCH and the important ways he has contributed to the success of both our society and the profession of clinical hypnosis.
Power of Words
More than a decade ago the Power of Words workshop was created to teach health care professionals who did not have the academic credentials about the importance of establishing rapport and using effective communication with their patients. Learning to use hypnotic healing language can help those clinicians on the frontlines of health care to reduce their patients’ anxiety, stress, and pain, and enhance their healing.
New Certificants & Consultants
ASCH congratulates our new certificants and welcomes our new consultants.
