ASCH members are invited to submit news, reviews, letters to the editor and other material for inclusion in the quarterly ASCH Advisor. Submissions will be edited for clarity, consistency, and to conform with ASCH’s editorial style guidelines. Please include photos and images as appropriate.

Call for Ethics Division Chair

Are you looking for a way to contribute to both ASCH and to the field of clinical hypnosis? Then the ASCH Ethics Committee may be the right fit for you. This committee is essential to the success of ASCH as a whole and to the field of clinical hypnosis. The Chair’s responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership: Providing overall direction and leadership for the ethics committee, including setting the agenda, facilitating meetings, and ensuring the committee fulfills its mandate.
  2. Policy development: Overseeing the development, implementation, and periodic review of the Society’s code of ethics and related policies.
  3. Case management: Coordinating the review process for ethics complaints or inquiries, ensuring proper procedures are followed, and maintaining confidentiality.
  4. Decision-making: Guiding the committee through fair and thorough evaluation of ethics cases, reaching consensus when possible, and making final determinations when necessary.
  5. Communication: Serving as the primary liaison between the ethics committee and other organizational bodies (board of directors, executive committee, membership).
  6. Education: Promoting ethics awareness through training programs, resources, guidance for Society members, and ethics presentations at ASMW meetings.
  7. Documentation: Ensuring proper record-keeping of committee activities, decisions, and policy changes.
  8. Representation: Representing the ethics committee at Society Board meetings and events when ethics matters are discussed.
  9. Conflict resolution: Addressing conflicts of interest within the committee and recusing members when appropriate.
  10. Continuous improvement: Staying informed about best practices in ethics governance and recommending improvements to the Society’s ethics processes.
