Description: An Introduction to Hypnosis in Psychotherapy: The Ethics, Science and Art. This event will have three speakers and an opportunity to ask questions of speakers. This event will last 5 hrs. Whether you have some experience in hypnosis or are newly investigating this evidence-based psychotherapeutic method, this course will provide you with: Learn from an attorney about ethical practices of savvy clinicians. Discover unique legal aspects of hypnosis in the legal and court systems. Learn self-hypnosis. Learn about the efficacy of trauma treatment using hypnosis and have your individual questions answered.  

Learning Objectives:  

  1. By the end of the training, participants will be able toidentify and explain at least four legal and ethical concerns related to the use of hypnosis in psychotherapy (e.g., informed consent, memory recovery risks, scope of practice, documentation, and forensic limitations) and apply them to a clinical scenario by selecting appropriate risk-management strategies, achieving at least 80% accuracy on a post-training quiz or case analysis.
  2. Participants will be able todemonstrateand teach a structured self-hypnosis protocol(including induction, deepening, therapeutic suggestion, and re-alerting) within a simulated psychotherapeutic session, meeting at least 4 of 5 criteria on a competency checklist and accurately describing two clinical indications and two contraindications for its use. 
  3. Participants will be able to summarize at least three empirically supported benefits and two limitations of incorporating hypnosis into psychotherapy and cite a minimum of two research findings or clinical guidelines supporting its efficacy, achieving at least 80% accuracy on a post-training discussion.
