Abstract: This webinar is based on a published chapter, “Principles and Process of Hypnotic Induction, Deepening, and Re-Alerting” (Reid, 2022) in Introduction to Clinical Hypnosis (Gary R. Elkins, Ed.). This two-hour webinar will focus on an overview of what the author refers to as “The Trinity of Clinical Hypnosis” serving as the beginning (induction), middle (deepening) and conclusion (re-alerting) of a formal hypnosis session. Clinical applications of each hypnosis “component” will be reviewed with sample interventions and applications demonstrated throughout this webinar. Particular attention will be placed on permissive and indirect approaches for individualizing a hypnosis session.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify and describe three (3) hypnotic induction techniques
- Identify the pros and cons of using more permissive hypnotic techniques
- Identify and describe three (3) deepening interventions to enhance the hypnotic experience
- Identify the pros and cons of using more permissive suggestions for re-alerting.
