Session: Utilizing Hypnosis in the Treatment of Narcissistic Wounds in Psychotherapy: A Relational Approach

Description: Explore how clinical hypnosis, combined with insights from self-psychology and attachment theory, can address narcissistic wounds stemming from attachment failures. This session explores the principles of palliative care, highlighting its distinctions from hospice care and its vital role in supporting seriously ill patients and their caregivers. Participants will learn a structured method for determining medical care goals and translating them into effective treatment plans through interactive breakout sessions.

The workshop also delves into palliative hypnosis as a tool for managing the complex symptoms of serious illnesses, with a particular focus on the speaker’s experience using clinical hypnosis to alleviate symptoms of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Ample time will be provided for questions and discussion, ensuring participants leave with practical insights and techniques for integrating palliative hypnosis into their practice.

Bio: Dr. John Franklin, a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, has trained VA Medical Centers staff in hypnosis nationwide. After retiring from the Charleston VA Medical Center, he continues teaching hypnosis and runs a private practice focused on clinical hypnosis.
