Dr. Milton Erickson, founding president of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), authored the inaugural editorial of the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis in 1958. Prior to my assumption of editorial duties this past April, throughout its 67-year history, the journal has been guided by eight Editors-in-Chief (EIC), including our most recent EIC, Stephen Lankton, MSW, DAHB, LSCW, FASCH, who recently relinquished his position and assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief, Emeritus. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the ninth EIC of the journal.
The AJCH has already undertaken a number of exciting developments and initiatives. First, I would like to welcome and introduce you to our most recent additions to the Advisory Editorial Board following unanimous approval of the ASCH Board of Directors: Drs. Ciara Christensen, Consuela Casula, Shawn Criswell, Enrico Facco, Sam Kohlenberg, Barbara McCann, Matthias Mendes, Akira Otani, Robert Staffin, Jennifer Swaim, and Lane Wagaman. I am very appreciative of their time, dedication, and collective clinical hypnosis expertise that will continue to ensure that the AJCH continues to maintain a legacy of publication excellence.
I am also very excited to share that we have laid the groundwork for the first Special Issue (SI) that will be dedicated to clinical hypnosis and its impact on women’s health and healthcare. Dr. Julie Linden has graciously accepted my invitation to edit this SI and has put the pieces in place for this project to come to fruition in a 2026 publication. Thank you, Julie, once again, for your leadership and guidance!
In my inaugural EIC report for the ASCH Advisor, I would be remiss if I did not once again acknowledge Steve Lankton for his continued mentorship, support, and shared expertise over the years I served the journal as Science Editor, and most recently during my ongoing transition as Editor-in-Chief. Steve continues to serve as an invaluable resource and guide as I navigate the ins and outs, ups and downs, and day-to-day tasks as the EIC of the AJCH. Thank you, Steve!
