Overview

Level 1 introduces licensed healthcare professionals to the foundational principles and skills of clinical hypnosis. Participants learn how to conduct hypnotic inductions, deliver therapeutic suggestions, and begin applying hypnosis ethically and effectively in clinical practice through instruction, demonstration, and supervised practice.

Important Notes

  • Participants are expected to attend all days.
  • Detailed workshop schedules, faculty information, and materials will be available online one–two weeks prior to the start date.
  • Workshop materials will be provided in electronic form only.
  • Level 1 must be completed prior to taking Level 2. These are not combined courses.
  • Approximately one week before the workshop, registered participants will receive a link to a private webpage with handouts and resource materials.
  • Level 1 and Level 2 participants can earn approximately 20-22 CE hours (see accreditation statement at the end of this page)

Clinical Workshop – Level 1

The Level 1 workshop, the first part of a series of workshops in the certification program for clinical hypnosis, is intended for licensed health professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, dentists, counselors, social workers, and those in related fields. A diverse faculty from a range of health disciplines will teach the principles and process of hypnotic inductions, suggestions, and treatment. The workshop is a mix of didactic presentations, demonstrations, experiential exercises, and faculty-led small group practice tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each participant. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have been taught the basic skills required to utilize clinical hypnosis and begin to apply it to their practice.

Brittany Meredith, Registered Psychologist (AB)

Brittany provides counselling to individuals impacted by trauma, complex trauma, grief, anxiety, body-focused repetitive behaviours, and pain in her private practice. In addition to counselling, Brittany is an EMDR Consultant and training coach, ASCH Certified in Clinical Hypnosis, and provides supervision to Registered Provisional Psychologists, and counselling students. Having practiced clinical hypnosis since 2013, and EMDR since 2016, Brittany is excited to share about integrating these powerful modalities. In addition to counselling, Brittany is the primary handler for Lions Foundation of Canada Facility Support Program Dog Guide, Indus (pictured here), who works in Power Psychology’s offices. Brittany spent many years on the CFCH-AS board, including as President, has sat on the EMDR Canada Board, and is currently on the Clinical Hypnosis Education and Training Committee with ASCH.

Clinical Workshop Eligibility

  • Registrants must be healthcare professionals licensed in their jurisdiction and practicing within scope.
  • Graduate students must have completed at least one full semester and submit proof of full-time enrollment at an ACE‑approved institution.
  • Full-time residents or interns must submit documentation from a supervisor confirming program participation and completion date.

  • Registration is completed online through the ASCH portal  site and requires account setup
  • ASCH members should log in using the email associated with their membership and select “Forgot Password” if needed.
  • Payments are processed securely online. Credit card data is not stored after completion.

Continuing Education Hours

Full participation, completion of pre-test, post-test, and daily evaluations are required for a Certificate of Completion.

ASCH will honor one registration transfer. Requests must be submitted in writing to info@asch.net by October 15, 2026. Requests after this date are treated as cancellations.

This program has been approved by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis Standards of Training Committee to be used toward Membership and Certification requirements.
