Description: This presentation explores the use of Hypnotic Relaxation Therapy for Wellbeing (HRT-WB) as an evidence-informed approach to enhance psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing. Drawing from positive psychology principles, HRT-WB emphasizes building strengths and fostering resilience rather than solely addressing symptoms. The session will review conceptual foundations of wellbeing, outline the structure of HRT-WB sessions, and share findings from a pilot study demonstrating its feasibility, acceptability, and potential impact on life satisfaction, affect, and psychological distress.
Learning Objectives:
- By the end of the training, participants will be able to list and explain at least three reasons for addressing wellbeing in addition to pathology in clinical practice and identify two clinical examples where a wellbeing focus is indicated, achieving 80% accuracy on a post-training quiz or written response.
- Participants will be able to outline the structure of Hypnotic Relaxation Therapy for Wellbeing (HRT-WB) by accurately naming at least four key components or session elements and placing them in the correct sequence on a training worksheet or case exercise, with 80% accuracy.
- Given a summary of the HRT-WB pilot study, participants will be able to describe at least three findings related to feasibility, acceptability, and impact on subjective wellbeing and psychological distress, and correctly interpret one outcome measure, scoring at least 80% on a post-training quiz or group case review rubric.
