SUMMARY:Using Language & Metaphor to Clarify Core Purpose and Meaning (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey  \nWebsite: https://clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6193649  \nEvent Title: Advanced Workshop: Using Language & Metaphor to Clarify Core Purpose and Meaning   \nAgenda: timed_agenda  \nDates: July 12\, 2025\, 11AM – 1PM EST   \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 2  \nContact: Robert Staffin drstaffin@gmail.com   \nAbstract: Language and metaphor play an important role in clinical hypnosis and especially in the work of Milton H. Erickson\, his students\, and those following. Through a mixture of humor\, storytelling\, and demonstrations\, Rob Voyle will teach us/remind us about the science and art of asking powerful questions. These questions have the power to open us up to our connection to the source of our life (whatever/whomever that is for you and your clients/patients).  Rob will share how to utilize metaphor to help people discover their core purpose and understand the violation of a client’s core purpose as a source of distress. When we clarify our core purpose\, it becomes a touchstone and provides a sense of meaning for us and all those with whom we live\, work\, and love.  \nLearning Objectives: As a result of attending this presentation participants will be able to: 1. Describe the differences between empowering and disempowering questions and know how to craft them. 2. Note and use a client’s metaphoric language to deepen awareness and empathy with the client. 3. Evoke and use a client’s simple metaphors to quickly determine a client’s core purpose and state of resourcefulness. 4. Use a client’s core purpose to articulate their stress and existential distress\, and to be able to restore a state of resourcefulness.

SUMMARY:Hypnotic Applications Across Phase Oriented Treatment for Trauma & Dissociative Disorders (ISSTD)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) \n\n\nWebsite: https://www.isst-d.org/training-and-conferences/conferences-and-seminars/regional-conferences/2025-chicago-regional-conference/  \n\n\nEvent Title: Hypnotic Applications Across Phase Oriented Treatment for Trauma & Dissociative Disorders \n\n\nDates: 07/18/2025 \n\n\nLocation: In-person \n\n\nCE: 6 \n\n\nContact: Wendy Willberg-Lemke\, wendylemkelp@gmail.com \n\n\nAbstract: In this session\, participants will enhance confidence in integrating hypnosis into trauma treatment\, focusing on dissociative identity disorder. The session covers hypnotic techniques across trauma treatment phases\, emphasizing language that acknowledges multiplicity. Applications include fostering safety\, exploring unconscious parts\, developmental repair\, and promoting integration. Metaphors and hypno-projectives are also reviewed. Prior hypnosis training is expected\, as trance elicitation isn’t covered. Techniques may be effective without formal hypnosis\, given dissociative states often involve self-induced trance. The session also addresses undoing unhelpful self-suggestions from past experiences. \n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\n\nExplain the importance of phase-oriented treatment and Lemke’s 4-C approach in the treatment of Dissociative Disorders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplain and incorporate Lemke’s P-principles for ‘safely’ navigating the unique needs of each client and all their parts throughout trauma treatment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmploy hypnotic language and strategies that emphasize safety throughout the phases of trauma treatment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate at least three hypnotic applications for exploring the unconscious and/or unconscious parts of self. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate the effectiveness and provide examples of at least two metaphors useful when working with dissociative disorders.
