The conference features leading experts in the field\, including Dr. Cameron Alldredge\, Dr. David Patterson\, Dr. Randy Buzan\, and Dr. Ciara Christensen\, who will present on different aspects of hypnosis and applications in these areas. Day one will cover topics such as using hypnosis to occasion mystical experiences and the unconscious\, with practical breakout sessions for participants. Day two will allow participants to explore how psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) can inform our use of hypnosis and how hypnosis can be used in the preparation and integration phases of PAP. The science behind PAP and possible overlap between psychedelic and hypnotic Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness (NOSC) experiences will also be discussed. The event will conclude with a panel discussion\, allowing attendees to engage with the presenters and exchange ideas about the future of hypnosis in these powerful and transformational therapeutic contexts. \nLearning Objectives: \nAfter Dr. Alldredge’s presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe at least 3 characteristics that are typical of mystical experiences\nSummarize what past and recent research say about inducing mystical experiences with hypnosis only\nState a theoretical rationale for the use of mystical experiences within therapeutic interventions\nDemonstrate designing and delivering suggestions to integrate mystical elements into psychotherapy\n\nAfter Dr. Patterson’s presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\nArticulate three findings from research on the unconscious that provide a foundation for complex hypnotic inductions\nPerform three suggestions that can be combined to form a non-linear hypnotic induction\nDescribe the concept of the positive unconscious and its association with the science of psychedelic therapies.\n\nFollowing Dr. Buzan’s presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\nList at least 3 classic psychedelics and their postulated mechanisms of action and how they differ from MDMA and ketamine\nList two psychiatric illnesses that appear responsive to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy\nName two categories of patients who might not be appropriate for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy\n\nAfter Dr. Christensen’s presentation\, participants will be able to: \n\nState two shared features of hypnosis and ketamine/psilocybin\nState one difference between a ‘psycholytic dose’ vs a ‘heroic or psychedelic’ dose\nState one hypnosis technique they can utilize during the preparation phase of PAP to enhance openness and readiness\nState one hypnosis technique they can utilize for the integration/post-journey phase to help clients process insights and solidify personal growth

SUMMARY:Webinar: Hypnosis and Creative Mind (Central Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Central Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis (CTSCH) \nWebsite: http://ctsch.com/ \nEvent Title: Hypnosis and Creative Mind \nDates: 02/21/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: CTSCH@CTSCH.com \nAbstract:\nOver a century of Western models of hypnosis have shared a dual-mind hypothesis of conscious/unconscious minds. Dr. Gilligan will present his generative trance approach\, regarding the positive and negative relationships that may obtain between the primary brain/mind experience of nonverbal/nature consciousness\, and the secondary brain/mind mapping of the verbal/virtual mind. Creative Mind activates with the harmonious interconnection between the two minds\, and problems develop and maintain themselves through a hostile dissociation between these “creative unconscious” and “conscious” minds. We will then see how this guides a psychotherapist in joining\, positively valuing\, and connecting the two modes to shift clinical problems into human resources. Theoretical models\, clinical examples\, and a guided process will illustrate the model. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nTo describe recent neuropsychological findings showing the complementary nature of the two brain/minds of the right and left hemispheres.\nTo identify how dissociation between these two intelligences is a common underpinning of sustained suffering.\nTo identify at least three ways generative hypnosis can be used to restore interconnectedness and thereby increase mental health\, at both individual and collective levels.
