SUMMARY:LIVE WEBINAR on Using Hypnosis to Enhance Performance and Creativity (New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite: https://www.nesch.org/event-5765718 \nEvent Title: LIVE WEBINAR on Using Hypnosis to Enhance Performance and Creativity \nDates: 1/12/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 3.0 \nContact: neschmsc@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nHardly a day goes by without a renowned public figure coming forward in the news and social media to reveal the impact of mental health on their performance and creativity. Stories and research abound on how mental health concerns have contributed to performance setbacks in the lives of elite athletes (U.S. Olympic Committee\, 2019)\, performing artists ((Rusak\, et al.\, 2021)\, students (Agnafors\, et al.\, 2020) and employees in the workplace (Center for Disease Control\, 2018). As society moves towards destigmatizing mental health challenges\, the opportunity for clinicians who can use hypnosis (vs. psychopharmacological approaches) to help enhance performance\, creativity and mental health is growing. Led by Dr. Dana Lebo\, a seasoned psychologist specializing in performance psychology and executive coaching\, this workshop draws on over two decades of her experience in guiding individuals towards their peak potential. It will provide for participants the opportunity to experience hypnotically informed strategies to enhance performance and creativity in their clients\, whether in sports\, on stage\, in the arts or at work. Participants will experience the integration of organizational\, coaching\, sports and mind-body psychologies with hypnosis to help improve performance and creativity. They will learn performance enhancement processes that they can readily apply in their lives and work. \nLearning Objectives: \n1. Describe at least 3 examples of how hypnotic techniques have been used to enhance performance or creativity. Examples will be drawn from sports\, the arts or workplace settings.\n2. Describe at least two key components to a process-oriented approach to enhancing performance or creativity.\n3. Describe at least three experiential exercises — incorporating hypnosis — that they can apply with individuals or groups in the process of enhancing performance or creativity.

SUMMARY:Techniques That Work: Favorites from My 40 Years of Practice (Medical Hypnosis Consultants\, PLLC)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Medical Hypnosis Consultants\, PLLC \nWebsite: MedicalHypnosisConsultants.org \nEvent Title: Techniques That Work: Favorites from My 40 Years of Practice \nDates: 1/17/25-1/28/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 10 \nContact: hollyforestermiller@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nThis ten hour workshop is designed to teach participants some of my favorite hypnotic techniques that I have either created or adapted over the past forty years. They are my favorites because they typically work very well at helping clients to shift ideas and make rapid changes in thoughts\, behaviors and/or comfort. This is a hands–on workshop and will be interactive\, including live demonstrations and practice groups. Participants will learn how to use a “Split Screen” technique for performance enhancement and eliminating old behavior habits. “The Old Fashioned Switchboard” is a wonderful tool I developed for helping individuals to let go of less than helpful self-talk. Participants will learn to use my “Past and Future” technique to help clients look at how things occurred in the past as a start to shifting the way they occur in the future. My “Spine Realignment” protocol is a wonderful tool for helping to relieve neck and spine tension\, alleviating compression and releasing pressure on nerves and ruptured discs to allow clients to move more comfortably and learn how to better relax their body. With “Symbolic Representation” participants will learn a method for assisting clients in shifting and/or clearing problematic issues without having to discuss the origins of the problem. With a demonstration of my “Cleaning out the Attic” participants will experience a metaphor for letting go of useless internalized ideas and negative concepts of self. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUtilize the “Split Screen” hypnotic technique for performance enhancement.\nUse the “Old Fashioned Switchboard” to help clients let go of less than helpful self-talk.\nApply the “Past & Future” technique to assist clients in making change.\nDemonstrate how to use “Symbolic Representation” with clients.\nDuplicate the “Spine Realignment” protocol.\nModify the ” Cleaning Out the Attic” metaphor depending on a client

SUMMARY:Gestures: The Unspoken Language (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/events \nAgenda: Click here \nEvent Title: Gestures: The Unspoken Language \nDates: 1/25/25 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: drstaffin@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nCommunication comes in packages\, it is embodied. Gestures are one element of that package. They have multiple and varied purposes: they punctuate and augment our messages; represent ideas and concepts; serve as reference points; and can be used to engage\, distract and or assess responsiveness. Their subtlety makes them ideal for clinical work as they are not consciously attended to yet influence perception\, understanding\, and meaning; they are core elements of limbic communication. We routinely employ them in the course of normal conversation\, harnessing them mindfully with strategic intent is an easy transition. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the conclusion of this presentation attendees will be able to: \n1. Describe the relative proportions of unconscious and conscious processes.\n2. List three types of gestures.\n3. Provide a working definition of “embodiment.”\n4. Identify two benefits of incorporating gestures into thier clinical work.\n5. Report on the percentage of the brain that is dedicated to processing visual\ninformation.\n6. List there dimensions in the “package of communication.”

SUMMARY:Suggestive Therapeutics and Choice Architecture (Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite: https://gpsch.org/ \nEvent Title: Suggestive Therapeutics and Choice Architecture \nDates:  January 26\, 2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 3.0 \nContact: marcy1116@aol.com \nAbstract:\nEricksonian Choice Architecture (ECA) is classified as a third branch of suggestive therapeutics\, with hypnosis and placebo therapy being the other two. While ECA originated from the clinical work of Milton H. Erickson\, MD\, (what he termed “conversational hypnosis”) it is conceptually rooted in research produced by the field of behavioral economics. Thus\, this workshop will blend elements of unconscious processing\, cognition\, emotion\, and socio-cultural factors to enable practitioners to shape how their clients recognize and experience choice. Unlike other therapy models\, ECA is choice-centric\, meaning that the subjective realization of choice is the central aim of the collaborative relationship—with change following as a natural biproduct. A primary thesis of the workshop is that the exercise of choice makes opportunity possible. \nCoined by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein\, the term choice architecture refers to influencing decisions by organizing the context in which choices are made. Unlike behavior modification\, choice architects empower effective decision-making using indirect influence\, without imposing rewards or punishments. By providing “nudges” they support individuals in making decisions that align with their best interests. Consistent with Erickson’s permissive approach\, the client retains autonomy over their choices\, while the choice architect strives to create an optimal choice environment. The approach is data-biased\, which means the decision architect uses research in positive psychology to help clients find opportunities for personal growth and social connection. This ethical framework requires sophisticated training to ensure decisions are framed in ways that promote the individual’s well-being and right to self-determination. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the end of the program\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine Ericksonian Choice Architecture (ECA) and classify it as a branch of suggestive therapeutics distinct from hypnosis and placebo therapy\n Analyze five key elements of ECA – unconscious processing\, cognition\, motivation\, emotion\, and socio-cultural factors – by accurately identifying examples or applications of each component in case scenarios\nDifferentiate ECA from behavior modification approaches by explaining at least three fundamental differences\, including the use of “nudges\,” the prioritization of choice over change\, and the focus on client autonomy\nDemonstrate the ethical framework of ECA by describing a choice architecture scenario that promotes personal growth and self-determination\n\n
