SUMMARY:Rescripting Trauma Memories with Memory Reconsolidation: Protocols for Updating Implicit Beliefs and Patterns (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6001181 \nAgenda: https://asch.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Timed_agenda.docx \nEvent Title: Rescripting Trauma Memories with Memory Reconsolidation: Protocols for Updating Implicit Beliefs and Patterns \nDates: 05/17/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 6.0 \nContact: chsnj1986@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nReprocessing traumatic memories can be a tough task\, due to the stubborn persistence of painful emotions\, thoughts\, and patterns woven into the memory at both conscious and subconscious levels. Fortunately\, neuroscience has revealed how clinicians can more effectively help their clients reprocess traumatic memories by harnessing the mechanisms of memory consolidation. Memory reconsolidation refers to the brain’s inherent ability to update a memory network with new information when the person encounters a new experience that is emotionally significant enough for the brain to change the memory’s meaning\, context\, and associations. In this webinar\, we will explore the phenomenon of memory reconsolidation and how clinical hypnosis can be used as an adjunct to treatment to facilitate it. Participants will learn why hypnosis can be an effective tool for eliciting memory reconsolidation and get several tools they can use to help clients rescript trauma narratives\, repair attachment wounds\, and foster a positive post-trauma identity \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the end of this workshop\, participants will be better able to: \n\nEvaluate recent neuroscience discoveries regarding memory reconsolidation and their clinical implications for treating trauma.\nDescribe the steps of the RECON protocol\, an imaginal rescripting technique to help clients reduce distress related to memories of traumatic events.\nDescribe how to integrate cognitive reframing techniques with hypnosis to rescript the client’s trauma narrative and beliefs associated with the traumatic event.\nIdentify at least two ways to help clients avoid re-traumatization while reviewing traumatic memories.\nDiscuss at least two strengths and two limitations of the research on memory reconsolidation and clinical hypnosis in trauma treatment

SUMMARY:Hypnotic Strategies for Evoking the Therapeutic Relationship (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey \nAgenda: https://asch.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Spiegel_CHSNJ_timed_agenda.docx \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6006566 \nEvent Title: Hypnotic Strategies for Evoking the Therapeutic Relationship \nDates: 06/08/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 6.0 \nContact:  chsnj1986@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nIn this workshop\, we will examine how hypnosis can be strategically utilized to evoke the three components of the therapeutic relationship: transference\, the contemporary (‘real’) relationship\, and the therapeutic alliance. We will review hypnotic strategies from each of these three components with the goal of differentiating when and how to elicit effect\, create containment\, and utilize rapport from the relationship to guide the treatment process. Participants will learn how hypnosis can serve as an ‘in-between’ state in which elements of this relational matrix can be utilized to great effect in advancing treatment process and outcome. We will provide applications of hypnosis & the therapeutic relationship in treatment\, along with demonstrations. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand how hypnosis hastens the development of new perspectives\, realities\, and understanding in the ‘in-between’.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking transference.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking the contemporary (real) relationship.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking the therapeutic alliance.

SUMMARY:Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction.
DESCRIPTION:Organization: ASCH \nWebsite: asch.net \nEvent Title: Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-‎Gut Interaction \nAgenda: 8pm-10pm EST \nDates: June 25th\, 2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: info@asch.net \nPrice: non-members: $65 \nMember: $55 \nRegistration Link: https://portal.asch.net/integratedEvents/home/GUT-FEELINGS-PART-II-CLINICAL-HYPNOSIS-FOR-COMPREHENSIVE-TREATMENT-OF-DISORDERS-OF-BRAIN-GUT-INTERACTION \n  \nAbstract: Clinical hypnosis has reliably been found to produce both short- and long-term treatment ‎benefits for functional gastrointestinal disorders (i.e.\, functional dyspepsia\, functional ‎abdominal pain\, and irritable bowel syndrome). Moreover\, as various physiological and ‎autonomic nervous system variables have been found to contribute to these gastrointestinal ‎disorders\, they have more appropriately been labeled Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction ‎‎(DBGI). However\, the exact mechanisms of action that result in such hypnotic intervention ‎benefits have remained elusive. ‎\nThis webinar will review the empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of various gut-‎directed clinical hypnosis strategies\, address possible mechanisms of action\, and outline ‎these techniques for participant use. Research will be reviewed on a polyvagal-based ‎hypnotic intervention effective with brain-gut interaction disorders. Moreover\, the polyvagal ‎model and this technique are also relevant to treating trauma\, fibromyalgia\, inflammatory\, ‎and other pain disorders. ‎\nAs the incidence of trauma and childhood adverse experiences is common in DGBI and ‎persistent pain\, identification of specific life events contributing to somatic distress and the ‎application of memory reconsolidation update techniques will be reviewed to more ‎comprehensively resolve Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction.‎\n \n  \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the completion of this webinar\, participants will be able to:‎\n‎1)‎ List the relevant diagnostic criteria for two brain-gut interaction disorders.‎\n‎2)‎ Cite three references providing empirical support for using clinical hypnosis to treat ‎functional gastrointestinal disorders.‎\n‎3)‎ List four hypnotic suggestions that have empirical support for reducing IBS symptoms.‎\n‎4)‎ Explain the relationship of the polyvagal theory to brain-gut interaction disorders ‎and outline a relevant hypnotic intervention found to be effective in reducing DGBI ‎symptoms.‎\n‎5)‎ Apply the cognitive bridge technique to identify contributing remote experiences.‎\n‎6)‎ Apply two memory reconsolidation update strategies for relevant trauma ‎experiences.‎

SUMMARY:Quality of Life in High-Impact Chronic Pain: The Role of Hypnosis (New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis \n\n\nWebsite: https://nesch.org/event-6197234 \n\n\nEvent Title: Quality of Life in High-Impact Chronic Pain: The Role of Hypnosis\n\n\nDates: June 28-29\, 2025\, 10AM-5PM EST (both days) \n\n\nLocation: Virtual \n\n\nCE: 12 \n\n\nContact: neschmsc@gmail.com \n\n\nAbstract: If you work with folks with chronic pain\, you know that for some it moves beyond being an annoyance and starts to take over their lives.  Over time\, this group do less and less\, see fewer and fewer people\, enjoy fewer and fewer things\, worry and rage more and more\, and their life shrinks down to just their pain and its effects.  The CDC has recently labeled this pattern as High-Impact Chronic Pain.  Providers from both the physical and the mental side often feel helpless and overwhelmed when confronted with these patients.  Fortunately\, Dr. Hall and Dr. Vair have years of experience with this population and have learned ways that strategic education and intervention\, centered around clinical hypnosis\, can turn the tide for these patients so that their lives start to grow again as the pain shrinks.  Join NESCH for a 2-day\, 12-hour online workshop on using clinical hypnosis to improve quality of life in those most impacted by chronic pain.  Day 1 centers on how pain changes us internally\, while Day 2 focuses on how it impacts us externally\, and both offer hypnotic and other tools for promoting positive change.   \n\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify three differences between acute and chronic pain \nDefine the relationship between pain and suffering \nDescribe 3 crucial points of information that patients need to learn to shift the conversation about chronic pain in a more helpful direction \nIdentify 8 brain regions that offer possibilities to use clinical hypnosis to change the experience of pain \nDemonstrate the use of a structured interview to determine the relative importance of each brain region in the patient’s experience of their pain and guide hypnotic treatment \nDefine the foundational aspects of a Whole Health approach to care\, including how to utilize this framework to engage individuals in active self-management of chronic pain \nIdentify relationships between established\, evidence-informed approaches for the use of hypnosis and the Whole Health approach to care \nIdentify ways to enhance clinical practice through utilizing person-centered hypnotic approaches \nDefine eight aspects of personal well-being that can be addressed in chronic pain using hypnosis \nState 2 brief “elevator speeches” to describe this approach to treating chronic pain\, one for professional colleagues\, and the second for patients and loved ones

SUMMARY:Using Language & Metaphor to Clarify Core Purpose and Meaning (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey  \nWebsite: https://clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6193649  \nEvent Title: Advanced Workshop: Using Language & Metaphor to Clarify Core Purpose and Meaning   \nAgenda: timed_agenda  \nDates: July 12\, 2025\, 11AM – 1PM EST   \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 2  \nContact: Robert Staffin drstaffin@gmail.com   \nAbstract: Language and metaphor play an important role in clinical hypnosis and especially in the work of Milton H. Erickson\, his students\, and those following. Through a mixture of humor\, storytelling\, and demonstrations\, Rob Voyle will teach us/remind us about the science and art of asking powerful questions. These questions have the power to open us up to our connection to the source of our life (whatever/whomever that is for you and your clients/patients).  Rob will share how to utilize metaphor to help people discover their core purpose and understand the violation of a client’s core purpose as a source of distress. When we clarify our core purpose\, it becomes a touchstone and provides a sense of meaning for us and all those with whom we live\, work\, and love.  \nLearning Objectives: As a result of attending this presentation participants will be able to: 1. Describe the differences between empowering and disempowering questions and know how to craft them. 2. Note and use a client’s metaphoric language to deepen awareness and empathy with the client. 3. Evoke and use a client’s simple metaphors to quickly determine a client’s core purpose and state of resourcefulness. 4. Use a client’s core purpose to articulate their stress and existential distress\, and to be able to restore a state of resourcefulness.

The workshop is designed as a unique in-person\, small-group learning opportunity. The syllabus is designed so that the CE hours may count as the Level 1 Basic training that is a required component towards ASCH certification in Clinical Hypnosis. This workshop strictly follows the most up-to-date ASCH-ERF Standards of Training for a Level 1 workshop and proposes 21.5 hours of CE hours. \nThe curriculum includes all didactic educational topics and experiential group practice exercises required by ASCH-ERF in a Level 1/Basic Clinical Hypnosis Workshop. We will define hypnosis\, offer a brief history of hypnosis\, and correct common misperceptions about the natural process of hypnosis and brain state of trance. An overview of the neuroscience of the trance state will be offered. Participants will be shown various demonstrations of the hypnotic process\, utilizing both audience volunteers and video recordings of work with actual clients (with client consent). Each stage of the hypnotic process will be taught\, explored\, and practiced. The workshop will include four separate small group practice sessions\, with at least one practice session taking place on each of the workshop days. Special attention will be given to ethics\, treatment planning\, and integrating clinical hypnosis into clinical practice\, as these topics are especially relevant to mental health practitioners. \nAgenda and Learning Objectives: \nFriday\, September 12th  \n1. SUMMARY:Interactive Experiential Clinical Hypnosis for Developmental Trauma Disorders (NTSCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: North Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis (NTSCH) \nWebsite: https://www.northtexashypnosis.org/   \nEvent Title: Interactive Experiential Clinical Hypnosis for Developmental Trauma Disorders  \nAgenda: NTSCH_Agenda with Objectives \nDates: 09/19/2025 – 09/20/2025 \nLocation: In person and Virtually (Live Streamed)  \nCE: 16  \nContact: Dr. Louis Damis\, DrDamis@LouisDamisPhD.com  \nAbstract: Many clients treated for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder have Complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). CPTSD is associated with histories of prolonged trauma\, abuse\, and neglect and is considered a form of developmental trauma. Such Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders include disturbances of self-organization that overlap with attachment deficits and pathologies requiring specialized interventions to modify. Prolonged neglect and abuse are associated with attachment anomalies\, strong egosyntonic negative beliefs\, and dissociation that are not readily changed with CBT or cognitive hypnotic interventions. These underlying aspects of developmental trauma involve the implicit memory system and early learning that psychoanalysts call the unrepressed unconscious.  This workshop will delineate the role of implicit memory in trauma-related disorders and address strategies for modifying implicit memories not accessible through cognitive methods (Normative Implicit Clinical Hypnosis). Hypnotic and biobehavioral techniques for polyvagal-based interventions\, attachment repair\, and memory reconsolidation update will be integrated into a phase-oriented treatment model.  Participants will learn how to establish the neurophysiological substrate for neuroception of safety and equip patients with the prerequisite skills necessary for mastery of traumatic and wounding experiences.  Application of exploratory techniques combined with memory reconsolidation update strategies to modify negative egosyntonic beliefs and transform traumatic memories will be delineated. Once adequate stabilization is attained and sufficient memory integration is established\, treatment can focus on self-development. The workshop will provide sufficient information for participants new to the advanced hypnosis workshops and more senior practitioners looking for specialized training in trauma\, complex trauma\, and attachment disorder applications.      \nLearning Objectives: See attached agenda

DESCRIPTION:Organization:  \nCTSCH \nWebsite:  \nhttps://www.ctsch.com/ \nEvent Title:  \nHypnosis and “Subtle” Presentations of Adult Autism \nAgenda: \n1:00pm to 1:40pm: Representational Systems\, Neurodiversity\, About Autism \n1:40pm to 2:00pm: Core Characteristics of Autism for Psychotherapy \n2:00pm to 3:20pm: Autism Treatment (Understanding the Brain & Sensory/Emotion Regulation) \n3:20pm to 4:00pm: Autism Treatment (Relationships & Communication)\, Hypnosis Application \nDates:  \n09/19/2025 \nLocation: \nWebinar \nCE: \n3 \nContact: \nCTSCH@CTSCH.com \nAbstract: \nAutistic clients commonly experience challenges in hypnosis and psychotherapy when practitioners do not understand their needs and processing style. Unfortunately\, current research and knowledge on Autism—and the diverse ways it manifests—has not trickled down to all helping professionals. Many clinicians may be relying on outdated information on Autism and feel ill-equipped to recognize and adapt therapy for Autistic clients—particularly those with “subtle” presentations. This neuro-affirming training is designed to bridge this gap by providing updated information about less-obvious Autism as well as practical tools and insights to help therapists support the emotional\, relational and processing needs of Autistic individuals. \nLearning Objectives: \n1. Identify at least 4 features of Autism. \n2. Describe at least 3 core characteristics of Autism that are most relevant for psychotherapy. \n3. List at least 4 interventions to support processing and emotional differences in Autistic clients. \n4. Discuss at 2 interventions for challenges that arise from relationship and communication differences. \nReferences/Bibliography: \n1. Henderson\, D.\, Wayland\, S.\, White\, J. (2023). SUMMARY:Planning Treatment Using Clinical Hypnosis: Practical Applications for Common and Not so Common Conditions (Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://gpsch.org/  \nEvent Title:  Planning Treatment Using Clinical Hypnosis: Practical Applications for Common and Not so Common Conditions\, Advanced Workshop \nAgenda:  Reid_Timed_Agenda \nDates: September 21\, 2025  \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 3 \nContact: Marcy Nadel\, marcy1116@aol.com  \nAbstract: Clinical hypnosis\, whether facilitated by another or self-directed (i.e.\, self-hypnosis)\, has been shown to be an effective (and evidence-based) means of enhancing pain management (Thompson et al\, 2019; Milling et al.\, 2020)\, panic and anxiety (Valentine et al.\, 2019; Reid\, 2023) phagophobia (Reid\, 2016) smoking cessation (Green & Lynn\, 2018)\, and depression (Milling et al.\, 2019). As clinicians we can evoke therapeutic\, conscious and unconscious resources for our clients in many ways\, though in this workshop we will explore the practical and intentional application of clinical hypnosis for evoking client resources. \nThis webinar involves skill building and enhancement of clinical hypnosis knowledge and will provide attendees with opportunities to discuss and formulate hypnosis treatment plans\, as well as implement hypnotic interventions (e.g.\, age regression\, age progression\, alert trance\, posthypnotic suggestions) for the treatment of common (e.g.\, depression\, anxiety\, habit control) and not so common (e.g.\, phagophobia\, trichotillomania\, trypanophobia\, hemophobia) troubling and sometimes debilitating human conditions. Attendees will be encouraged to submit and discuss their own sanitized cases pending review and approval of Dr. Reid (see below for instructions). The ethical implications of treatment planning and issues involving informed consent for treatment when using hypnosis will be also addressed. Furthermore\, this webinar\, through the use of practical demonstrations\, will minimize the apparent gap that exists for many clinicians who lack knowledge\, understanding\, and strategic application of clinical hypnosis interventions.  \nLearning Objectives:   \nAt the end of the program\, participants will be able to:  \n\nDevelop a treatment plan including hypnosis interventions for patients presenting with numerous personal challenges. Participants will complete a hypnosis treatment plan for at least three case studies that will be provided by the instructor (Reid\, D.B.\, 2016) \n\n\nConstruct three metaphors appropriate for treatment of anxiety\, depression\, and panic disorder (one metaphor for each condition) (Casula\, C.C.\, 2022; Casula\, C.C.\, 2025; Reid\, D.B.\, 2023) \n\n\nConstruct three posthypnotic suggestions for two case studies provided by the instructor or an attendee (Willmarth\, E.K. & Vinson\, M.\, 2022; Wark\, D.M.\, 2023) d.  Describe alert hypnosis including the “Helping Hands” intervention for treatment of unhealthy and unwanted habits (Reid\, D.B.\, 2025; Feldman\, J.B.\, 2020)
