SUMMARY:Evocative Approaches to Therapeutic Communication\, an Ericksonian Approach
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Oregon Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite: https://oregonhypnosis.org/event-5546753 \nEvent Title: Evocative Approaches to Therapeutic Communication\, an Ericksonian Approach \nDates: 05/10/2024-05/11/2024 \nLocation: In-person workshop~Virtual workshop \nCE: 12 \nContact: Cynthia Levesque\, Vicepresident@oregonhypnosis.org \nAbstract:\nTherapeutic communication can be informative and/or evocative depending on client need. When the goal is eliciting a change in state it is best to use evocative methods. Hypnosis is the mother of an experiential approach and evocative method can be derived therefrom. The program consists of lecture\, demonstration therapy\, small group practice and video examples of Milton H. Erickson. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nParticipants will define an evocative approach and discriminate it from an informative approach.\nParticipants will list three evocative methods that can facilitate the realization of concepts.\nParticipants will describe the meta-model of evocative communication and given a case apply it clinically.\nParticipants will indicate how using tailoring\, including social determinants\, can be used to define therapy goals.\nGiven a client\, participants will indicate how to use evocative methods to accomplish therapy goals.\n\nMore Info

SUMMARY:Turn Stressful into Restful: Enhancing Sleep through Self-State Strategies and the Art of being Hypnotic
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Lemke Counseling & Consulting \nWebsite: https://www.wendylemke-psy.com/stressful-into-restful \nEvent Title: Turn Stressful into Restful: Enhancing Sleep through Self-State Strategies and the Art of being Hypnotic \nDates: May 9\, 2024 \nLocation: Virtual Workshop \nCE: 3.0 \nContact: Wendy Lemke\, wendylemkelp@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nSleep\, often overlooked in our fast-paced lives\, plays a pivotal role in maintaining optimal psychological and physical health. Even with the understanding of its profound impact on mental and physical wellness\, many still struggle with getting the slumber they need. \nMany psychological disorders contribute to sleep challenges\, especially in the field of trauma. Research shows that treating sleep can help PTSD but treating PTSD doesn’t necessarily help sleep\, thus all trauma treatment should include a sleep component. \nBy utilizing an Ego State Therapy approach combined with hypnotic strategies and language we can explore the unconscious and work with states of self that have inner wisdom about the cause\, maintenance\, or even the solutions to getting a more restful sleep. In addition to making sure the whole-self is prepared for a more restful sleep\, we will also explore the importance of self-language and hypnotic components that can either block or enhance our ability to sleep well. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDefine the importance of sleep in psychological and physical health\, especially for those who struggle with PTSD and/or Dissociative Disorders.\nExplain and demonstrate at least three Ego State Therapy Strategies to employ for improving/enhancing sleep.\nExplain and demonstration Ego State Therapy Strategies for nightmares to prevent sleep dread.\nIdentify three unconscious potential barriers to restful sleep and therapeutic ego state strategies to manage them.\nIdentify and develop strategies for defeating/harmful self-statements that often-become fixed hypnotic suggestions utilized by self or self-states that interfere with restful sleep.\n\nMore Info

SUMMARY:Hypnosis for Chronic Pain Management
DESCRIPTION:Organization: New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite: www.nesch.org \nEvent Title: Hypnosis for Chronic Pain Management \nDates: May 4-5\, 2024 \nCE: 14 hours \nContact: Staisha Santungwana\, neschMSC@gmail.com \nAbstract: \nThis workshop will provide an overview of hypnotic strategies and suggestions for helping individuals better self-manage chronic pain conditions.  It will begin with a discussion of the role that the Behavioral Inhibition and Activation Systems play in hypnotic responding. This will be followed by a presentation of the neurophysiology of nociception and pain\, focusing on nine specific processes and physiological structures involved in pain perception\, all of which can be influenced by hypnotic suggestions.  Evidence regarding pain’s impact on other functioning domains (e.g.\, activity level\, sleep\, mood) will be discussed\, and ideas for hypnotic suggestions and approaches for addressing all of these domains and processes will be generated.  A model for performing a thorough psychosocial evaluation of the outcome domains that hypnosis can benefit in persons with chronic pain will be presented\, and methods for developing a pain treatment plan based on this evaluation will be discussed.  Strategies for integrating hypnosis with other approaches with proven efficacy (e.g.\, cognitive therapy and Motivational Interviewing) to enhance overall treatment benefits will also be covered. The emphasis of the workshop will be on applied clinical techniques; demonstrations\, exercises and the opportunities for group consultation will be included.  After participating in the workshop\, participants will have the resources and skills to evaluate a patient with chronic pain for hypnosis treatment and design a treatment plan that addresses the various problems identified. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify the role of Behavioral Inhibition and Behavioral Activation systems for developing a tailored pain treatment plan.\nApply research in findings regarding “seeding” to enhance response to clinical suggestions.\nDesign tailored and targeted hypnotic suggestions to maximize the benefits of hypnosis treatment based on current scientific knowledge regarding the neurophysiological basis of pain for designing\nCreate an effective relaxation hypnotic induction.\nCreate an effective “Favorite place” hypnosis induction.\nIdentify the cognitive and behavioral factors that influence pain for designing hypnotic suggestions that help clients shift from maladaptive to adaptive cognitive processes and pain coping behaviors.\nUtilize a thorough psychosocial evaluation of the psychosocial factors influencing pain and functioning\,\nDesign a treatment protocol that addresses each factor.\nExplain the environmental\, physical\, and psychological factors that impact sleep quality in individuals with chronic pain.\nDesign an intervention for improving sleep quality in individuals with chronic pain.\nIdentify strategies to integrate cognitive therapy and Motivational Interviewing with hypnosis treatment to enhance treatment outcome.\nDescribe an effective age progression suggestion for increasing adaptive pain management behaviors.\n\nMore Info

SUMMARY:100-Hour Clinical Hypnosis and Strategic Psychotherapy Training
DESCRIPTION:The 100-hour online training program is divided into five phases\, each progressively building in intensity and complexity as we go along. Michael’s teaching is highly structured and organized. \nThe course is entirely virtual (online) and takes place over time to allow the natural process of learning to occur with experiential learning in-between phases. There is no substitute for the opportunity to take the skills back to your practice and have your own personal experience with your clients as you begin to integrate the newly learned skills. Then\, you can come back to the next phase of the training with relevant questions and experiences. \nIn every phase\, the emphasis is on practicality: What are the practical implications of concepts being taught\, and what are the techniques derived from these insights? How can they be incorporated into your sessions? \nThere will be structured practice sessions in every phase; after all\, the primary goal of the entire training is to give you the tools needed to integrate hypnosis skillfully into your clinical practice. There will be didactic presentations on key topics\, live and video demonstrations\, and ample opportunity for addressing questions and discussing the finer points of presented material.
