SUMMARY:Conversing for a Change: The Principles and Practice of Conversational Hypnosis (Dr. David Alter)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Dr. David Alter  \nWebsite: drdavidalter.com  \nEvent Title: Conversing for a Change: The Principles and Practice of Conversational Hypnosis  \nAgenda:  Conversing_for_a_Change_Webinar_Timing (1) \nDates: 02/20/2026 & 02/21/2026  \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 10  \nContact : Dr. David Alter\, drdavidalter@gmail.com  \nDescription: Gestures\, facial expressions\, uttered sounds\, formal words\, full sentences\, and the ideas they convey are all elements of language. Hypnosis utilizes language. However\, hypnosis is not reducible to language and words\, nor can it be optimally expressed through formulaic inductions and suggestions. In this ten-hour online course\, set to run on Friday and Saturday\, February 20 & 21\, 2026\, from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM CST each day\, participants will be exposed to an immersive\, expansive\, and clinically enriching experience as together we explore the underlying principles and practical applications of conversational hypnosis. The course highlights the neuropsychological underpinnings of language\, the utility of emergent potentials as innate client resources\, the role of narrative and evocative storytelling\, and the importance of uncertainty and disorientation as a core context for positive change. The course includes active Q&A time\, in-session demonstrations modeling and utilizing a slew of applied hypnotic practices that can be used in the course of dynamic\, relationally-based hypnotically-oriented conversations with clients.  \nLearning Objectives:   \n\nIdentify six dimensions of language and their relevance to cultivating increased client suggestibility. \nDefine and learn to utilize the eight neuropsychological underpinnings of dynamic and interpersonal conversation as foundations of client change promotion. \nContrast the legacy model of clinical hypnosis (induction\, deeping\, suggestion\, realerting\, and debriefing) with the seven core elements of conversational hypnosis model of interaction that the webinar will feature. \nModel a set of seven practical applications of conversational hypnotic interaction practices. \nPractice utilizing conversational prompts modeled in the webinar with scenarios drawn from participants’ clinical practices during the webinar’s practice sessions. \n\nSpeaker info: David S. SUMMARY:Indirect Work with Hypnosis Using Metaphorical Objects (CTSCH Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Central Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://www.ctsch.com/calendar   \nEvent Title: Indirect Work with Hypnosis Using Metaphorical Objects (CTSCH Webinar)  \nAgenda:  Timed_Agenda (4) \nDates: 2/20/26\, 1-3pm CT \nLocation: Virtual – Webinar  \nCE: 2  \nContact : ctsch@ctsch.com  \nDescription: This presentation introduces Indirect Work with Hypnosis Using Metaphorical Objects as an experiential\, hypnosis-informed approach for facilitating therapeutic change in both individual and group settings. Rooted in Ericksonian principles\, this method utilizes metaphorical objects as concrete representations of unconscious information\, relational dynamics\, and emergent solutions\, allowing meaningful work to occur without the need for explicit verbal disclosure of the problem. Metaphorical objects function as indirect hypnotic stimuli that naturally evoke trance states\, activate internal resources\, and promote experiential reorganization. Drawing from Milton H. Erickson’s utilization-based hypnosis and Teresa Robles’ concept of universal wisdom\, the approach emphasizes safety\, respect\, and a non-invasive therapeutic stance. The therapist adopts an attitude of service and trust in the client’s inherent capacity for self-regulation and solution generation. The method is particularly useful in clinical contexts where clients prefer privacy\, minimal verbalization\, or indirect approaches. Through observation\, guided suggestions\, and metaphor-based interaction\, clients access new perceptions and embodied insights that support change at conscious and unconscious levels. A brief clinical illustration from a live demonstration highlights how metaphorical objects facilitate emotional regulation\, experiential learning\, and solution-focused transformation within a hypnotic framework.  \nLearning Objectives: After this program\, participants will be able to..  \n1. Identify the concept and clinical purpose of metaphorical objects within indirect\, Ericksonian hypnosis.  \n2. Describe the systemic and Ericksonian theoretical framework that supports therapeutic work with metaphorical objects.  \n3. Incorporate the use of at least two metaphorical objects as an indirect hypnotic technique. \n4. Formulate and practice at least three therapeutic verbalizations for effective clinical use of metaphorical objects  \nSpeaker info: Cecilia Fabre is a master in Ericksonian psychotherapy and systemic family therapy. She has been a clinical psychologist since 1988 and has a PhD in Integral and Conscious Development of Organizations and Groups. \nABOUT_THE_PRESENTER (1)

SUMMARY:Neurophysiology of Hypnosis (CHSNJ)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey (CHSNJ) \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6444924   \nEvent Title: Neurophysiology of Hypnosis  \nAgenda:  _March_Timed_Agenda \nDate: 03/14/2026  \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 2  \nContact : ginnydinsmore@gmail.com\, Virginia Dinsmore (CHSNJ Secretary)   \nAbstract: Hypnosis is increasingly recognized as a powerful adjunct in clinical practice\, particularly in pain management\, oncology\, and anxiety disorders. Yet\, its underlying neural mechanisms have only recently begun to be elucidated through neuroimaging and electrophysiological studies. This presentation will summarize current evidence on how hypnosis modulates brain activity and connectivity across key networks involved in consciousness\, attention\, and pain processing. Findings show that hypnosis alters the balance between internal and external awareness networks\, disrupts activity within the Default Mode Network\, and engages regions such as the anterior cingulate and insular cortices that mediate emotional and sensory components of pain. Differences between highly and low hypnotizable individuals further highlight distinct attentional and inhibitory mechanisms that may influence clinical responsiveness. We will also review neurophysiological data supporting the use of hypnosis in acute and chronic pain\, oncology care\, phobias\, and functional neurological disorders. Finally\, emerging approaches combining hypnosis with virtual reality will be discussed as promising tools to enhance patient comfort and engagement in clinical settings. By linking neurophysiological mechanisms to clinical outcomes\, this talk aims to help clinicians better understand how hypnosis can be integrated into everyday care to optimize therapeutic efficacy and patient well-being.  \nLearning Objectives:   \n\nDescribe the key brain regions and neural networks involved in the hypnotic state\, as revealed by functional neuroimaging studies (fMRI\, EEG\, PET).  \n\n\nExplain how neuroimaging evidence links specific neurophysiological changes during hypnosis to its clinical benefits.  \n\n\nEvaluate the strengths and limitations of current neuroimaging approaches in distinguishing hypnotic responsiveness from other states of consciousness. \n\n Speaker info:  \nDr. Audrey Vanhaudenhuyse  _March_Clinical_Conversation_BIO_Vanhaudenhuyse__ \nDr. Mathieu Landry _March_Clinical_Conversation_BIOS_Landry \n

Alexander\, PhD\nExplorations in Trauma Treatment Through Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity\nThursday\, March 19\, 2026 | 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM ET | Member Price $125.00 | 3.0 CE \nRegister Here – Explorations in Trauma Treatment Through Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity \nThe work of Milton Erickson brought new insights and methodologies to the field of hypnosis and mind-body healing. Erickson’s therapeutic use of rapid and deep induction that integrated storytelling\, metaphors\, and deep trance to engage the patient’s unconscious mind towards healing was a pioneering contribution to this new paradigm of thought. Therefore\, within this new view\, affective experience has taken on an entirely new meaning\, one in which symptoms are now seen as the body’s wisdom pathways for creating communication between the unconscious and the self for promoting healing. \nFor 2500 years\, Buddhist meditation practices have developed what is referred to as “skillful methods” for the study and transformation of the mind-body process. These meditation and visualization practices help to cultivate self-regulation through awareness training to develop concentration\, release painful affects\, and apply the principles of Buddhist psychology to resolve afflictive factors of mind-body trauma. \nThis workshop will address solutions for treating trauma by utilizing Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Buddhist Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity. We will review the clinical skills of tracking\, pacing\, and utilization of the symptom as the pathway for accessing the creative unconscious with trance for the rapid treatment of trauma. The workshop will highlight Milton Erickson’s use of storytelling\, metaphor\, and rapid trance induction as well as the use of framing\, re-framing\, and de-framing for the immediate reorganization of transforming somatic-affective experience into new healing rhythms in the body. Through trance exercises\, participants will learn how to access their core creativity to help their clients visualize a path forward into the future after experiencing trauma. \nAt the conclusion of this program\, participants will be able to: \n\nDemonstrate more creative and resourceful skills when treating body symptoms\, trauma\, pain\, mood\, and somatic disorders.\nUtilize the symptom to access the unconscious and its healing inner resources with deep trance\, visualization\, and mindfulness meditation.\nApply experiential exercises to help clients integrate their body-mind and access their core creativity\, enabling them to move forward into the future after experiencing trauma.\nUtilize new clinical skills for tracking\, pacing\, and reframing trauma into new learnings for healing and resolution\n\nPresenter: Ronald A. Alexander\, PhD\, MFT\, SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner) is a psychotherapist\, leadership coach\, and international trainer in the fields of Mindfulness Meditation\, Ericksonian Mind-Body Therapies\, Core Creativity\, Gestalt Therapy\, and Somatic Experiencing. He is the Executive Director of the OpenMind® Training Program\, which offers personal and professional training programs in mindfulness-based mind-body therapies\, transformational leadership\, and meditation. He received consultation and treatment from Milton H Erickson MD. He personally trained with Ernest Rossi\, PhD\, and Steven Gilligan PhD in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy\, and Daniel P. Brown of Harvard Medical in hypnosis and hypno-analysis. SUMMARY:When the Body Speaks: Ego State Therapy & Hypnotic Applications for Somatic Symptoms Including FND\, Chronic Pain & Sleep Concerns (CFCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Canadian Federation of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://clinicalhypnosis.ca/event-6528746  \nEvent Title: When the Body Speaks: Ego State Therapy & Hypnotic Applications for Somatic Symptoms Including FND\, Chronic Pain & Sleep Concerns  \nAgenda:  Agenda \nDates: May 1-2\, 2026  \nLocation: In-Person and Virtually  \nCE: 14  \nContact : Wendy Willberg-Lemke\, wendylemkelp@gmail.com  \nDescription: This 2-day training is designed for clinicians with prior training in hypnosis who wish to deepen their clinical skills when working with somatic symptoms such as functional neurological disorder (FND)\, chronic pain\, and sleep disturbances. This course\, grounded in Ego State Therapy conceptualizes somatic symptoms as meaningful messages from the body and the system of self. These symptoms may reflect internal conflicts\, adaptive reasoning\, or survival strategies. Ego State Therapy provides several ways to communicate with the body and/or ego states to explore unconscious causes\, contributing factors as well as potential solutions for somatic symptoms. Utilizing ideomotor signaling and other unconscious ways of exploring\, participants will learn how to access and communicate with states to elicit information about safety\, function\, contributing factors\, and potential pathways for resolution of somatic symptoms. Emphasis is placed on therapeutic intention\, hypnotic suggestions\, and internal negotiations that are respectful of the whole self within a trauma-informed\, phase-oriented framework. The training will review and apply core Ego State Therapy (EST) principles\, including Lemke’s adapted P-Principles\, which serve as a template for holding the multiplicity of self in mind when formulating hypnotic suggestions and strategies. EST treatment strategies based on these principles will be presented\, such as accessing internal resources and Lemke’s Playing with the Space. Demonstrations\, case examples\, and experiential exercises will be incorporated to enhance participants’ learning.  \nLearning Objectives: By the conclusion of this two-day training\, participants will be able to:  \n   \n\n Summarize research that demonstrates the effectiveness of clinical hypnosis in treating somatic issues such as FND and Chronic Pain. \n\n   \n\n Apply Ego State Therapy concepts including Lemke’s adapted P-Principles\, to clinically conceptualize and work with the voices of the body by recognizing the multiplicity of self.\n\n   \n\nIdentify three different ways to access ego states for gathering useful unconscious information about the body to assist in the treatment of somatic symptoms. \n\n   \n\n Develop an ego state trauma informed hypnotic approach for a somatic symptom presentation that integrates therapeutic intention and incorporates EST strategies such as Lemke’s ‘Playing with the Space’ strategy.\n\n   \n\nDemonstrate the use of ideomotor signaling as a tool to work with the system of self to identify purpose/function\, and/or other contributing factors to somatic symptoms. \n\nSpeaker info: Wendy Willberg-Lemke Bio

SUMMARY:Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Hypnosis for the Seriously Curious (FSCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://www.fsch.org/workshops  \nEvent Title: Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Hypnosis for the Seriously Curious  \nAgenda:  FSCH_Agenda_May_2026 \nDates: 05/2/2026 –  5/3/2026  \nLocation: In-person  \nCE: 12  \nContact : Marie Wilson mariefsch@aol.com   \nDescription: This 12-hour workshop is designed for health professionals who want to learn more about psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAP) for their patients and possibly for themselves. This workshop is not intended to train practitioners to use PAP with clients. However\, attendees will learn about the basic science of the agents most commonly used in PAP\, indications for various medications for psychological challenges\, the structure of typical sessions\, and ethical issues such as legality\, availability\, and the significant potential for harm associated with this form of therapy. The workshop will address how psychotherapy approaches\, including hypnosis\, can facilitate the preparation and integration phases of a PAP experience. We will discuss how this type of facilitation can be done by a therapist who is independent of the actual PAP treatment. We will also provide experiential exercises to 1) create mystical experiences with hypnosis and 2) use the science of the unconscious to create significant emotional and behavioral shifts. The instructors pride themselves on using state-of-the-art research in neurophysiology and outcome research throughout the workshop.  \nLearning Objectives:  \n\n Describe the empirical evidence for the neurophysiological effects of psychedelic-assisted therapies (PAP) on brain function and psychiatric outcome. \n\n\nDescribe the steps of PAP interventions based on the target issue and the medicine being used. \n\n\nArticulate how psychotherapy and hypnosis can facilitate the preparatory and integration phases of PAP. \n\n\nExperience and be able to describe a hypnotically induced mystical experience. \n\n\nExperience and describe the use of the unconscious to create emotional and behavioral changes through hypnosis. \n\nSpeaker info: Ciara Christensen\, PhD Ciara_Christensen_bio \n

SUMMARY:The Unique Suitability of Hypnosis for Resolving Trauma and Managing Dissociation (NTSCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: North Texas Society of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://www.northtexashypnosis.org/ \n Title: The Unique Suitability of Hypnosis for Resolving Trauma and Managing Dissociation  \nAgenda: June_Agenda \nDates: 06/24/2026  \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 1.5  \nContact : Tracy Payton Watson\, LPC tracypaytonwatson@gmail.com   \nDescription: It is well-established in the research literature that psychological traumatization and dissociation are distinctive states with characteristic psychological and psychophysiological features. Similarly\, a growing body of research confirms that hypnosis has identifiable psychophysiological attributes\, and that hypnosis and dissociation are related. Consequently\, hypnotically informed intervention approaches are uniquely suited to foster constructive\, enduring state change in chronically traumatized and dissociative individuals. This workshop will focus on practical applications of these principles by identifying various components of trauma- and dissociation-relevant treatment that can be facilitated by using hypnosis for: relationship building through strengthening rapport; distress reduction; expanding coping skills through imagery rehearsal; increasing self-esteem by challenging convictions that sustain negative self-image; reducing disruptive levels of hyperarousal during trauma processing; and managing and mastering dissociative states by learning to modulate their intensity. Brief illustrative case examples will be included. Attendees will be encouraged to adopt the hypnotic strategies presented in this session as jumping-off points for tailoring them to the intersectional needs\, perspectives\, personal and family histories\, and cultural backgrounds of each individual client.  \nLearning Objectives: By the end of the session\, participants will be able to adapt and demonstrate at least two of the six hypnotic strategies presented by outlining how they would implement them with a current or sample client and achieve a score of 80% or higher on a post-training competency checklist or role-play evaluation.   \nSpeaker info: Steven N Gold\, PhD Gold_bio_12-2025 \n
