Prior clinical hypnosis training is required\, such as an approved ASCH Level I course. Focus will be placed on advancing skills and confidence with elicitations\, reorienting\, and integrating hypnotic applications into practice\, along with several supervised practice opportunities. Hypnotic applications include exploratory strategies such as ideomotor signaling\, an introduction to ego state therapy\, applications for children or child states\, trauma\, habit disorders\, anxiety\, and somatic concerns including pain management.  \nSimilar to the Fundamental training\, the Level II course will offer you learning through didactic presentations\, demonstrations and small-group practices\, so that new information can be integrated and become available to you in your clinical practice. Participants will learn advanced induction and deepening techniques\, methods for enhancing autonomic regulation\, and strategies for fostering resilience and self-efficacy\, with interventions tailored to specific presentations such as generalized anxiety\, chronic pain\, and acute stress response. Emphasis is placed on individualized case conceptualization and hands-on practice with expert faculty feedback.  \nLearning Objectives:  \n\nUtilize advanced induction and deepening techniques to address anxiety symptoms in clinical presentations. \nConstruct two or more indirect suggestion or utilization-based interventions for patients presenting with pain or stress-related conditions. \nDevelop a self-hypnosis protocol suitable for integration into an individualized treatment plan. \nModify hypnotic intervention strategies to address at least three distinct clinical populations (e.g.\, pediatric\, chronic pain\, disorder of the gut-brain interaction). \n\nSpeakers’ info:  \n\nMary Wells\, PhD\nProgram Chair \nDr. Mary Wells is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been in practice for over 30 years in the areas ofrehabilitation and pain management. She completed her graduate work at The George Washington University and started her career at the Washington Pain and Rehabilitation Center in Washington DC. She wentfrom there to VCU Health System in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as a rehab psychologist\, providing services to a full range ofrehabilitation patients on both the inpatient and outpatient service. She left VCU to work in an interdisciplinary pain clinic in the community\, and later went into private practice. \nIn 2000\, she joined the medical psychology department at Sheltering Arms Hospital\, first as a staff psychologist and later as director ofthe department\, a post she held for 10 years. She has recently returned to the VCU Dept. of PMR and is currently working as part of an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System to provide services to patients with chronic pain due to a variety of medical conditions. She provides evaluations and psychological treatmentfor management of chronic pain. \nShe has been using clinical hypnosisfor treating chronic pain and other medical illness issues\, has been an ASCH member since 2004 and has been teaching with ASCH since 2009\, first as a small group facilitator and later asfaculty in Level 1\, Level 2 and Advanced workshops. She has been a board member of ASCH episodically over the last 10 years. \nAli Navidi\, PsyD\nAli Navidi\, PsyD\, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Co-Founder and CEO of GI Psychology\, a nationwide practice specializing in behavioral care for gastrointestinal conditions and chronic pain. With more than a decade of clinical experience\, he has particular expertise in gut-directed hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for GI (CBT for GI)\, with comprehensive training in clinical hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. \nA founding member and past president ofthe Northern Virginia Society of Clinical Hypnosis\, Dr. Navidi also oversees clinical training at GI Psychology and regularly provides education on GI behavioral health to healthcare professionals and organizations across the country. He has presented to organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology and leading academic medical institutions\, and his expertise has been featured in The Washington Post and The Atlantic\, and more than 40 podcasts\, including Gastro Girl with Jacqueline Gaulin with and The PedsDocTalk Podcast with Dr. Mona Amin. \nDavid Gaffney\, MSW\, BCDCH\, EFT-Adv\, D.K. Associates\nDavid Gaffney has 40+ years of clinical social work experience\, serving in positions from line staffto Director of Behavioral Health before arriving at the VA\, where he has served for 21 years. \nHe currently is a Clinical Social Worker at the Aleda E Lutz VAMC in Saginaw\, Michigan\, providing psychotherapy\, hypnotherapy\, biofeedback and mindfulness training in the MH Integrated Pain Clinic. He also runs a private practice in the Mid-Michigan area. \nDavid serves with the VA National Office of Mental Health as consultantfor the VA CBT-Chronic Pain program and servesfor the VA OPCC&CT (Office of Patient-Centered care and Cultural Transformation) in the IHCC (Integrative Health Coordinating Center) as the VA National Champion for hypnosis and guided imagery and national subject matter expertfor biofeedback\, hypnosis and guided imagery. \nDavid is also the Director of Training at D. K. Associates\, a Midwest-based behavioral healthcare training organization\, and has served on the board for the MidWest Society of Behavioral Medicine and Biofeedback. \nDavid has been teaching psychotherapy hypnosis and guided imagery for over 40 years as well as acting asfield instructor and lecturerfor multiple Michigan colleges and universities. He is a frequent presenter and trainerfor multiple national professional organizations. \nHe is co-developer ofthe VA national basic\, intermediate and advanced Clinical Hypnosis courses and co-designer ofthe VA national Guided Imagery certification course and the VA “Guided Imagery for Well-Being” course. \nAlexandra “Ali” Chadderdon\, Psy.D.\nDr. Ali Chadderdon is a licensed clinical psychologist and a recognized leader in clinical hypnosis\, currently serving as Co-Chair ofthe Intermediate Workshop Program for the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH) Annual Conference\, a role she has held since 2020. In recognition of her contributions to the field\, she has received SCEH’s Presidential Award for Service and Commitment to Training in 2022\, 2023\, and 2025. \nDr. Chadderdon’s hypnosis training began at Vanderbilt University’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine\, where she received direct mentorship from renowned hypnosis experts Drs. Dave Patterson and Lindsey McKernan\, focusing on hypnosis for pain management and complex trauma. She went on to deepen this expertise during her postdoctoralfellowship at the Cleveland Clinic’s Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program\, where she provided group clinical hypnosisfor pain control alongside an integrated medical team. \nBefore joining GI Psychology\, Dr. Chadderdon integrated clinical hypnosis into her work with military veterans through the VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System\, and offers hypnosis services to clients across all PSYPACT states through Attune Philadelphia Therapy Group. She has provided formal supervision and mentorship in clinical hypnosis since 2021\, and has presented on complex applications of hypnosis\, including trauma\, obsession\, and complex pain\, at multiple SCEH Annual Conferences. She has also been invited to peer review upcoming hypnosis literature\, including a second edition text on clinical hypnosisfor pain control. Currently\, she is a clinical psychologist with GI Psychology providing specialized\, evidenced based treatmentsfor disorders ofthe gut brain interaction and other complex medical conditions.
