SUMMARY:Level 1 (Fundamentals) Training in Clinical Hypnosis (ISSTD)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD)  \nWebsite: https://www.isst-d.org/training-and-conferences/training-courses/asch-training/   \nEvent Title: Level 1 (Fundamentals) Training in Clinical Hypnosis at ISSTD\, Arlington\, VA  \nAgenda:  Timed_Agenda__L1_ISSTD_2026 \nDates: 02/20/2026 – 02/22/2026  \nLocation: In person – Hilton Arlington | Arlington\, VA  \nCE: 20 hours \nContact :  Eric Spiegel\, PhD – espiegelphd@gmail.com  \nAbstract: This Level 1 training in clinical hypnosis will provide trainees with a beginning understanding of the concepts\, principles and clinical applications of hypnosis. Experienced\, ASCH-certified and ASCH- approved consultant faculty will offer didactic presentations\, demonstrations\, experiential exercises\, and faculty-led small group practices of 6-7 participants to facilitate a fundamental understanding and experience of clinical hypnosis and its integration into clinical practice. At the completion of the training\, trainees will have been taught the knowledge and skills to begin the integration of clinical hypnosis strategies into the treatment of their patients. Specifically\, trainees will be able to identify and demonstrate at least three ways to facilitate hypnotic trance and to competently re-orient a patient from a trance state\, demonstrate at least three strategies for facilitating intensification of trance\, and describe at least four clinical conditions in which hypnotic strategies can be successfully utilized. Trainees will have been introduced to clinical hypnosis as a neurophysiological phenomenon\, a mental state of absorption implicated in neuroplasticity and change\, as well as a creative clinical skill set of relationship development in the service of collaboratively facilitating mental and physical health. This training is especially geared towards therapists treating traumatized and dissociative persons. Upon successful completion of this L1 training in clinical hypnosis\, trainees will be eligible for ASCH membership as well as for participation in Level II (Intermediate) and Advanced Level ASCH approved workshops.  \nLearning Objectives: (see agenda)  \nSpeaker info: Eric Spiegel\, Ph.D. Akira Otani\, EdD Mary Wells\, PhD\, LPC Tobi Goldfus\, LCSW-C\, BCD Ali Navidi\, PsyD (see website for bios)

SUMMARY:Conversing for a Change: The Principles and Practice of Conversational Hypnosis (Dr. David Alter)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Dr. David Alter  \nWebsite: drdavidalter.com  \nEvent Title: Conversing for a Change: The Principles and Practice of Conversational Hypnosis  \nAgenda:  Conversing_for_a_Change_Webinar_Timing (1) \nDates: 02/20/2026 & 02/21/2026  \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 10  \nContact : Dr. David Alter\, drdavidalter@gmail.com  \nDescription: Gestures\, facial expressions\, uttered sounds\, formal words\, full sentences\, and the ideas they convey are all elements of language. Hypnosis utilizes language. However\, hypnosis is not reducible to language and words\, nor can it be optimally expressed through formulaic inductions and suggestions. In this ten-hour online course\, set to run on Friday and Saturday\, February 20 & 21\, 2026\, from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM CST each day\, participants will be exposed to an immersive\, expansive\, and clinically enriching experience as together we explore the underlying principles and practical applications of conversational hypnosis. The course highlights the neuropsychological underpinnings of language\, the utility of emergent potentials as innate client resources\, the role of narrative and evocative storytelling\, and the importance of uncertainty and disorientation as a core context for positive change. The course includes active Q&A time\, in-session demonstrations modeling and utilizing a slew of applied hypnotic practices that can be used in the course of dynamic\, relationally-based hypnotically-oriented conversations with clients.  \nLearning Objectives:   \n\nIdentify six dimensions of language and their relevance to cultivating increased client suggestibility. \nDefine and learn to utilize the eight neuropsychological underpinnings of dynamic and interpersonal conversation as foundations of client change promotion. \nContrast the legacy model of clinical hypnosis (induction\, deeping\, suggestion\, realerting\, and debriefing) with the seven core elements of conversational hypnosis model of interaction that the webinar will feature. \nModel a set of seven practical applications of conversational hypnotic interaction practices. \nPractice utilizing conversational prompts modeled in the webinar with scenarios drawn from participants’ clinical practices during the webinar’s practice sessions. \n\nSpeaker info: David S.
