SUMMARY:Hypnotic Strategies for Evoking the Therapeutic Relationship (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey \nAgenda: https://asch.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Spiegel_CHSNJ_timed_agenda.docx \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6006566 \nEvent Title: Hypnotic Strategies for Evoking the Therapeutic Relationship \nDates: 06/08/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 6.0 \nContact:  chsnj1986@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nIn this workshop\, we will examine how hypnosis can be strategically utilized to evoke the three components of the therapeutic relationship: transference\, the contemporary (‘real’) relationship\, and the therapeutic alliance. We will review hypnotic strategies from each of these three components with the goal of differentiating when and how to elicit effect\, create containment\, and utilize rapport from the relationship to guide the treatment process. Participants will learn how hypnosis can serve as an ‘in-between’ state in which elements of this relational matrix can be utilized to great effect in advancing treatment process and outcome. We will provide applications of hypnosis & the therapeutic relationship in treatment\, along with demonstrations. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand how hypnosis hastens the development of new perspectives\, realities\, and understanding in the ‘in-between’.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking transference.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking the contemporary (real) relationship.\nFormulate 2 hypnotic strategies for evoking the therapeutic alliance.

A diverse faculty from a range of health disciplines will teach the principles and process of hypnotic inductions\, suggestions\, and treatment. The workshop is a mix of didactic presentations\, demonstrations\, experiential exercises\, and faculty-led small group practice tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each participant. At the conclusion of the workshop participants will have been taught the basic skills required to utilize clinical hypnosis and begin to apply it to their practice. \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the completion of the workshop\, the participant will be able to: \n\nDescribe the nature of hypnosis and how to present it to a client\nIdentify major myths and misconceptions\nIdentify three intrinsic brain networks modified by hypnosis\nDescribe the relationship of hypnosis to memory and pseudo-memory\nApply three basic hypnotic inductions and three deepening methods\nBe able to reorient and re-alert the hypnotic subject\nUse hypnosis for relaxation\, ego-strengthening\, and stress management\nTeach self-hypnosis to clients\nIdentify relevant clinical treatment goals\nDemonstrate treatment planning and selection of goals appropriate for hypnotic intervention\nDescribe contraindications for using hypnosis\nDescribe ethical considerations around the use of hypnosis

SUMMARY:An Advanced Workshop with: Devin Terhune\, PhD - Hypnosis: State of the Science (with Clinical Implications)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite: msch.us \nEvent Title: An Advanced Workshop with: Devin Terhune\, PhD – Hypnosis: State of the Science (with Clinical Implications) \nDates: June 21\, 2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 6.0 \nContact: Jennifer Stoos\, jstoos@rekindlethespark.com \nAbstract:\nThis workshop aims to introduce attendees to the science of hypnosis\, with a focus on state-of-the-art research. The workshop will comprise four subsections on distinct topics\, including contemporary research on hypnotic responding and the cognitive neuroscience of hypnosis; the relations between hypnosis\, suggestion and psychopathology; current state of the evidence regarding the clinical efficacy of hypnosis; and the relevance of hypnosis and suggestion for scientific research on\, and clinical applications of\, psychedelics. Each subsection will conclude with a brief consideration of the implications for therapeutic applications of hypnosis. Upon completing the module\, attendees will have a good understanding of contemporary developments in the field and be positioned to critically evaluate this work. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDescribe recent developments in the measurement of hypnotic responding.\nExplain the principal features of predictive processing accounts of hypnosis.\nSummarize current knowledge regarding the link between hypnosis and psychopathology.\nEvaluate research papers describing clinical interventions involving hypnosis.\nDescribe the clinical efficacy of hypnosis for different symptoms and conditions.\nAssess the role of suggestion effects (hypnosis\, placebo\, and nocebo) in response to psychedelics.\nIdentify ways by which hypnosis and psychedelics can be integrated in experimental research and clinical practice.

SUMMARY:Quality of Life in High-Impact Chronic Pain: The Role of Hypnosis (New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis \n\n\nWebsite: https://nesch.org/event-6197234 \n\n\nEvent Title: Quality of Life in High-Impact Chronic Pain: The Role of Hypnosis\n\n\nDates: June 28-29\, 2025\, 10AM-5PM EST (both days) \n\n\nLocation: Virtual \n\n\nCE: 12 \n\n\nContact: neschmsc@gmail.com \n\n\nAbstract: If you work with folks with chronic pain\, you know that for some it moves beyond being an annoyance and starts to take over their lives.  Over time\, this group do less and less\, see fewer and fewer people\, enjoy fewer and fewer things\, worry and rage more and more\, and their life shrinks down to just their pain and its effects.  The CDC has recently labeled this pattern as High-Impact Chronic Pain.  Providers from both the physical and the mental side often feel helpless and overwhelmed when confronted with these patients.  Fortunately\, Dr. Hall and Dr. Vair have years of experience with this population and have learned ways that strategic education and intervention\, centered around clinical hypnosis\, can turn the tide for these patients so that their lives start to grow again as the pain shrinks.  Join NESCH for a 2-day\, 12-hour online workshop on using clinical hypnosis to improve quality of life in those most impacted by chronic pain.  Day 1 centers on how pain changes us internally\, while Day 2 focuses on how it impacts us externally\, and both offer hypnotic and other tools for promoting positive change.   \n\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify three differences between acute and chronic pain \nDefine the relationship between pain and suffering \nDescribe 3 crucial points of information that patients need to learn to shift the conversation about chronic pain in a more helpful direction \nIdentify 8 brain regions that offer possibilities to use clinical hypnosis to change the experience of pain \nDemonstrate the use of a structured interview to determine the relative importance of each brain region in the patient’s experience of their pain and guide hypnotic treatment \nDefine the foundational aspects of a Whole Health approach to care\, including how to utilize this framework to engage individuals in active self-management of chronic pain \nIdentify relationships between established\, evidence-informed approaches for the use of hypnosis and the Whole Health approach to care \nIdentify ways to enhance clinical practice through utilizing person-centered hypnotic approaches \nDefine eight aspects of personal well-being that can be addressed in chronic pain using hypnosis \nState 2 brief “elevator speeches” to describe this approach to treating chronic pain\, one for professional colleagues\, and the second for patients and loved ones
