SUMMARY:Hypnosis and Sleep: How to Deliver Hypnotic Suggestions That Support Healthy Sleep (CTSCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: CTSCH \nWebsite:  https://www.ctsch.com/ \nAgenda: https://asch.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Timed_Agenda.docx \nEvent Title: Hypnosis and Sleep: How to Deliver Hypnotic Suggestions That Support Healthy Sleep \nDates: 4/25/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: CTSCH@CTSCH.com \nAbstract:\nHalf of all adults experience regular sleep disturbances\, with significant portions of the population suffering from chronic insomnia\, according to Rand’s 2023 Global Report. Hypnosis can be very helpful with inducing relaxation\, releasing anxiety\, and controlling the spinning thoughts that often accompany insomnia. However\, unless we\, as practitioners\, understand sleep architecture and the specific components of sleep\, we cannot design and deliver the unique suggestions that most effectively target sleep and wake cycles. To fully address sleep disturbance\, we must shift our perception of insomnia\, cognitive fog\, and fatigue as true issues with sleep per se. Instead\, these symptoms should be thought of as challenges to the transitions between states of wakefulness and sleeping. Because hypnosis is a bridge between the conscious (awake) and unconscious (sleeping) minds\, it can be an extraordinary tool for impacting those transitional challenges\, between states of being awake and being asleep\, in a safe and profound way. In this workshop\, we will discuss the foundations of sleep in the body and brain\, explore some of the architecture of sleep and hypnosis\, and learn how to address sleep/wake issues using hypnotic metaphors\, language\, and specific suggestions. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Be able to identify at least 3 specific aspects of sleep problems or architecture that can be effectively addressed using hypnotic suggestions. \n2. Be able to construct at least 3 metaphors or embedded suggestions that address common sleep problems pertaining to sleep architecture. \n3. Be able to deliver at least 3 hypnotic suggestions that specifically relate to sleep. \n4. Be able to formulate and practice at least 2 different hypnotic inductions that target healing sleep and fatigue problems.

SUMMARY:A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to an Induction: When Humor Enhances Hypnosis (Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey \nWebsite: https://www.clinicalhypnosisnj.org/event-6019239 \nEvent Title: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to an Induction: When Humor Enhances Hypnosis \nAgenda: https://asch.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Reid_Timed_Agenda.docx  \nDates: 04/27/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: drstaffin@gmail.com \nAbstract:\nIt has been said that\, “Laughter is the best medicine.” There is ample empirical evidence that humor promotes immune functioning\, enhances quality of life in cancer patients and nursing home residents\, and minimizes symptoms of depression and anxiety (Bains et al.\, 2015; Ko & Youn\, 2011; Kuru & Kublay\, 2017; Morishima et al.\, 2019; Takeda et al.\, 2010). Yet there is limited consideration or research regarding the inclusion of humor during hypnosis sessions (Thomson\, 2022). This (two hour) conversation will review the healing properties of humor for medical and psychological disorders\, and more specifically\, encourage participants to consider embedding (i.e.\, interspersing) humor during hypnosis sessions with their clients. Case examples and demonstrations will highlight the pairing of humor with hypnosis for enhancing “ego strengthening\,” embedded metaphors\, story-telling\, age regression/progression\, and post-hypnotic suggestions. \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the conclusion of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n1) Identify three (3) positive effects of humor for medical and/or psychological disorders. \n2) Identify at least three (3) ways to effectively incorporate humor into hypnosisinterventions. \n3) Identify two (2) situations in which humor is appropriate and two (2) situationsin which humor is inappropriate to include in clinical hypnosis.

SUMMARY:Hypnosis for Gastrointestinal Distress: Mind-Body Considerations for Healing
DESCRIPTION:Organization:  \nGreater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis \nWebsite:  \nunavailable until closer to the date of the program \nEvent Title:  \nHypnosis for Gastrointestinal Distress: Mind-Body Considerations for Healing \nAgenda: \nApril 27\, 2025 \n9:30 AM-10:00 AM  Registration\, Sign-in\, Zoom Housekeeping\, Introductions \n10:00 AM-10:20 AM Introduction\, and initial group experience \n10:20 AM-11:05 AM Essential concepts:  Psychoneuroimmunology\, autonomic nervous system and polyvagal theory\, brain structure\, and how these concepts should inform how clinician can use hypnosis more effectively \n11:05 AM-11:15 AM    Q and A \n11:15 AM-11:45 AM Fundamentals of Irritable Bowel Syndrome\, Dysregulation Syndrome\, Somatic Dissociation \n11:45 AM-12:45 PM Applications of hypnosis for digestive distress \n12:45 PM-1:00 PM      Q and A\, Integration\, Conclusion\, Evaluation \nDates:  \nApril 27\, 2025 \nLocation: \nWebinar \nCE: \n3 Credits \nContact: \nmarcy1116@aol.com \nAbstract: \nIrritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the most common gastrointestinal disorder. It is one of the most common disorders seen by physicians and other health professionals. Several studies have suggested that the societal impact of IBS on health-related quality of life is equally as significant as congestive heart failure. While there are medications available for treating the symptoms of IBS\, most patients and clinicians express that these treatments are temporary and often unsatisfactory. Clinical hypnosis is one of the most successful treatment approaches for chronic IBS. The response rate to treatment is 80% or better in most published studies\, and it often helps individuals who have failed to improve with other methods.  In this 3-hour virtual workshop\, you will learn the role that hypnosis can play in facilitating an ideal healing state to assist in healing from IBS and other functional digestive distress. Participants will learn to understand IBS and other functional disorders as dysregulation syndromes. We will also explore how hypnosis can be helpful as an adjunct to other treatments for inflammatory bowel conditions such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease. Dr Weisberg will guide the participants through a mixture of didactic and experiential approaches they can use on a daily basis in their clinical practice. \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the end of the program\, participants will be able to: \na. Describe one important aspect about the relationship between chronic pain\, central sensitization\, and autonomic dysregulation\nb. Formulate at least 2 hypnotic interventions to reduce IBS symptoms\nc. Formulate at least 2 hypnotic suggestions to help a patient with IBS become less fearful and avoidant of difficult abdominal sensations
