We will explore how AI systems enhance efficiency as well as decision-making and how they may influence trust\, rapport\, and the flow of information between clinician and patient. The session highlights how medical hypnosis and hypnotic communication strategies can support therapeutic presence in technologically mediated settings. Participants will learn how AI tools can assist in developing therapeutic language frameworks and how hypnosis-informed approaches help maintain clarity\, empathy\, and patient-centered care. \nIn this workshop\, participants will also experience how the development of hypnotic trances can be influenced by AI. We will examine whether the hypnotic structure and linguistic nuances are preserved and how the disclosure of AI assistance affects the therapeutic frame. Participants will have the chance to directly evaluate AI’s impact on communication\, rapport\, and hypnotic responsiveness in real-world clinical contexts. \nAt the end of the program\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe core mechanisms and current evidence for AI technologies—such as Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) and Large Language Models (LLMs)—and identify at least two clinical applications and two profession-specific benefits and risks for mental health and medical practice.\nAnalyze how AI systems may affect cognitive\, emotional\, and subconscious processes in clinicians and patients/clients\, and explain at least two ways these effects can influence clinical reasoning\, therapeutic dynamics\, or patient engagement.\nIdentify and discuss at least three ethical and evidence-based strategies for integrating AI into psychotherapeutic and medical care while maintaining clinical judgment\, informed consent\, and a strong therapeutic or doctor–patient relationship.\nApply AI-informed communication and clinical interaction skills to case examples in order to enhance patient/client understanding\, trust\, and overall care experience across healthcare and behavioral health settings.\n\nPresenter: Neurologist and hypnotherapist Dr. Daniela Huetwohl serves as a senior physician in the emergency department and as the Deputy Medical Director of the center for AI\, medical informatics and data science at Knappschaft Kliniken University Hospital Bochum. Alexander\, PhD\nExplorations in Trauma Treatment Through Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity\nThursday\, March 19\, 2026 | 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM ET | Member Price $125.00 | 3.0 CE \nRegister Here – Explorations in Trauma Treatment Through Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity \nThe work of Milton Erickson brought new insights and methodologies to the field of hypnosis and mind-body healing. Erickson’s therapeutic use of rapid and deep induction that integrated storytelling\, metaphors\, and deep trance to engage the patient’s unconscious mind towards healing was a pioneering contribution to this new paradigm of thought. Therefore\, within this new view\, affective experience has taken on an entirely new meaning\, one in which symptoms are now seen as the body’s wisdom pathways for creating communication between the unconscious and the self for promoting healing. \nFor 2500 years\, Buddhist meditation practices have developed what is referred to as “skillful methods” for the study and transformation of the mind-body process. These meditation and visualization practices help to cultivate self-regulation through awareness training to develop concentration\, release painful affects\, and apply the principles of Buddhist psychology to resolve afflictive factors of mind-body trauma. \nThis workshop will address solutions for treating trauma by utilizing Ericksonian Hypnosis\, Buddhist Mindfulness\, and Core Creativity. We will review the clinical skills of tracking\, pacing\, and utilization of the symptom as the pathway for accessing the creative unconscious with trance for the rapid treatment of trauma. The workshop will highlight Milton Erickson’s use of storytelling\, metaphor\, and rapid trance induction as well as the use of framing\, re-framing\, and de-framing for the immediate reorganization of transforming somatic-affective experience into new healing rhythms in the body. Through trance exercises\, participants will learn how to access their core creativity to help their clients visualize a path forward into the future after experiencing trauma. \nAt the conclusion of this program\, participants will be able to: \n\nDemonstrate more creative and resourceful skills when treating body symptoms\, trauma\, pain\, mood\, and somatic disorders.\nUtilize the symptom to access the unconscious and its healing inner resources with deep trance\, visualization\, and mindfulness meditation.\nApply experiential exercises to help clients integrate their body-mind and access their core creativity\, enabling them to move forward into the future after experiencing trauma.\nUtilize new clinical skills for tracking\, pacing\, and reframing trauma into new learnings for healing and resolution\n\nPresenter: Ronald A. Alexander\, PhD\, MFT\, SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner) is a psychotherapist\, leadership coach\, and international trainer in the fields of Mindfulness Meditation\, Ericksonian Mind-Body Therapies\, Core Creativity\, Gestalt Therapy\, and Somatic Experiencing. He is the Executive Director of the OpenMind® Training Program\, which offers personal and professional training programs in mindfulness-based mind-body therapies\, transformational leadership\, and meditation. He received consultation and treatment from Milton H Erickson MD. He personally trained with Ernest Rossi\, PhD\, and Steven Gilligan PhD in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy\, and Daniel P. Brown of Harvard Medical in hypnosis and hypno-analysis. He is the author of Core Creativity: The Mindful Way to Unlock Your Creative Self\, and Wise Mind\, Open Mind: Finding Purpose and Meaning in Times of Crisis\, Loss\, and Change. SUMMARY:The Wisdom Within: Advanced Ego Strengthening Through Mindful Hypnosis and Integrative Approaches (GPSCH)
DESCRIPTION:Organization: Greater Philadelphia Society of Clinical Hypnosis  \nWebsite: https://gpsch.org/   \nEvent Title: The Wisdom Within: Advanced Ego Strengthening Through Mindful Hypnosis and Integrative Approaches  \nAgenda:  SlonenaTimed_Agenda \nDates: March 15\, 2026  \nLocation: Virtual  \nCE: 3  \nContact : Marcy Nadel\, marcy1116@aol.com   \nDescription: Ego-strengthening is an essential technique utilized across hypnotic and non-hypnotic modalities. In this experiential workshop\, attendees will explore ego strengthening as a relational\, creative\, and moment-to-moment process that can be intentionally woven throughout the entire therapeutic experience. Incorporating contemporary third-wave CBT concepts\, including quiet ego\, self-compassion\, multiplicity\, with integrative psychotherapy modalities such as Mindful Hypnosis\, this training offers a modern and holistic framework for ego-strengthening applicable across diverse clinical populations.   \nMoving beyond rigid scripts\, participants will learn to identify ego passivity\, ego activity\, and ego receptivity\, and use these aspects to guide the selection\, timing\, language\, and tailored delivery of ego-strengthening interventions. Attendees will experience several hypnotic and non-hypnotic ego-strengthening interventions\, including Slonena’s The Light Within induction\, Place of Peace\, Inner Guardians\, Bubble of Compassion\, and the WOOPI Method. Additionally\, empowerment techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)\, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)\, EMDR\, and Ego State Therapy will be integrated. Case vignettes and interactive exercises will ignite imagination and support clinical integration\, bridging the gap between cognitive conceptualization and practical utilization.   \nThis training is designed to refine not only clinical technique\, but also therapeutic presence. Through direct felt experience of ego strengthening\, practitioners can discover their inner strengths\, therapeutic talents\, and natural hypnotic style\, enhancing confidence\, attunement\, and effectiveness in clinical practice.  \nLearning Objectives: At the end of this learning experience\, participants will be able to: \n1. Define the concept of ego-strengthening in clinical hypnosis. \n2. Identify at least three related concepts to ego-strengthening\, such as quiet ego\, self-compassion\, and multiplicity.\n3. Identify and differentiate between ego passivity\, ego activity\, and ego receptivity in a clinical vignette.\n4. Explain at least three ego-strengthening interventions that can be used during clinical hypnosis.\n5. Classify four types of ego-strengthening hypnotic suggestions and generate one example of each.  \nSpeaker info:  Liz Slonena\, PsyD\, MSCP\, HS-P\, CMIP _5_-_Slonena_Curriculum_Vitae_EES_1.1.2026

SUMMARY:ASCH Webinar: Combined Hypnotic and Pharmacological Approaches to Weight Management
DESCRIPTION:ASCH Webinar: Combined Hypnotic and Pharmacological Approaches to Weight Management\nRegister Here \nTopic: Weight Loss Management; GLP-1 & GIP mechanisms; behavioral and hypnotic approaches \nPresented by Maryanna Polukhin\, MD and Louis Damis\, PhD\, ABPP\, FASCH \nWhen: Wednesday\, February 18\, 2026\, 7:00-9:00 PM ET \nWhere: Virtual – Zoom \nCE: 2.0 \nPrice: Member: $45\, Non-Member $65\, Grad: $35\, Resident $35; includes access to both live and later on-demand viewing \nObesity prevalence is rising and is affecting the physical and psychosocial health of a large portion of our population. It is a complex\, chronic condition driven by powerful biological and behavioral forces. While GLP-1/GIP agonists have transformed the treatment landscape by addressing appetite regulation and metabolic resistance\, pharmacotherapy alone is insufficient to address the multifactorial nature of obesity and produce long-term weight maintenance. Moreover\, intensive behavioral therapy\, which yields weight-loss outcomes comparable to pharmacotherapy\, has been shown to be additive to pharmacotherapy and is now considered a necessary component of effective long-term weight management. \nThis webinar explores how GLP-1/GIP agonist therapy and behavioral interventions augmented with hypnosis can be integrated to address both the physiological and behavioral drivers of obesity. Designed for behavioral and medical health professionals\, the session reviews the neurohormonal mechanisms of GLP-1/GIP agents and practical strategies for combining these approaches to improve adherence\, durability of weight loss\, and whole-person-centered outcomes. \nAt the completion of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nList three mechanisms of satiety and metabolic changes of benefit to patients.\nDescribe the expected weight loss changes associated with pharmacological and cognitive-behavioral interventions\, as well as the impact of a combined approach.\nDescribe the limitations and side effects of pharmacological and surgical weight loss interventions\nList five behavioral techniques for weight management and the three found to be most effective for long-term maintenance.\nDescribe a four-stage hypnotic treatment plan and systematic approach to weight management.\n\nSpeaker Bios: \nDr. Maryanna Polukhin is a primary care doctor in Starling Physicians\, Hartford\, CT. She has practiced Internal Medicine for more than 20 years and is Board certified in Internal Medicine and has Board certification in Integrative Medicine. DESCRIPTION:Register here!\nAdvanced Workshop: Hypnosis and Zen-Buddhism for Pain and Suffering with Dr. Dave Patterson. \nInformation\nHeld virtually\, 22 hours of CE \n\nThursday\, Nov 6th – 5:00PM EST (2:00 PM PST) to 9:00PM EST  (6:00PM PST) \nFriday\, Nov 7th – 5:00PM EST (2:00PM) PST to 9:00PM EST (6:00PM PST)\nSaturday\, Nov 8th  – 10:00AM EST (7:00AM PST) to 6:00PM EST (2:00 PM PST)\, with 1 hour break between 1-2pm EST (10-11AM PST) \nSunday\, Nov 9th – 10:00AM EST (7:00AM PST) to 6:00PM EST (2:00 PM PST) with 1 hour break between 1-2pm EST (10-11AM PST)\n\nThis four-day workshop will focus on the use of hypnosis\, meditation\, and motivational interview to treat acute pain and manage chronic suffering. The workshop will train participants in an eight-module psychotherapy approach for managing chronic pain and illness that is described in Patterson and Mendoza’s Clinical Pain for Hypnosis (2024). Participants will go through several cycles of learning the science and theory behind a hypnotic approach\, observing the trainer perform an induction and then practicing the skills on a partner. The practice sessions will focus on learning a module of a complex induction well\, and then combining several modules in a way that participants can offer advanced\, non-linear inductions to their patients. This offers an effective way to learn complex concepts that is low stress and fun. The modern science of the unconscious will be emphasized as well as Ericksonian approaches. We will also use a neurophysiological conceptualization of a non-dualistic self to facilitate both meditation and hypnosis. The practice exercises with participants will be designed so they will be better able to manage pain and suffering in patients but also will find examples that are useful in their own lives.  \nLearning Objectives\nAt the end of the workshop participants will be able to:  \n\nDescribe the difference between acute and chronic pain \nArticulate hypnotic approaches to acute and chronic pain \nDescribe the components of a biopsychosocial assessment approach to chronic pain and illness \nPerform six approaches to hypnosis that were used by Erickson later in his career \nDescribe at least four concepts from the modern science of unconscious that apply to hypnosis \nArticulate a scientific based conceptualization of the illusion of self that leads to meditation training. \n\n\nSpeaker information\nDavid Patterson\, Ph.D.\, is professor emeritus of psychology in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. DESCRIPTION:ASCH Level 1 & Level 2 Workshop  \nThursday\, September 18th  – Sunday\, September 21st    \nOur Clinical Hypnosis training program offers a progressive series of workshops designed to equip licensed health professionals with skills to incorporate clinical hypnosis into their practices. In the Level 1 workshop\, participants learn the foundational principles and techniques of hypnosis\, including inductions\, suggestions\, and therapeutic strategies\, guided by experienced faculty from various health disciplines. This course blends presentations\, demonstrations\, and hands-on practice to provide basic skills for immediate application. Building on this foundation\, the Level 2 workshop delves deeper into clinical hypnosis\, expanding on “how to” by adding the “when\, why\, and where” for techniques\, especially for specific populations and complex cases like pain and anxiety management. Advanced skills such as complex inductions and the nuanced use of suggestion language are explored with expert feedback. For those seeking continued growth\, Advanced Workshops offered throughout the year cover specialized topics\, including behavioral medicine and mind-body integration\, enabling participants to further enhance and apply their skills in targeted areas. Each level builds confidence\, competence\, and the ability to provide patient-centered\, integrative care  \nImportant Notes  \n\nRegister for only ONE Workshop – Participants are expected to attend all days. \n\n\nDetailed workshop schedules\, faculty and other materials will be available to participants\, online\, two weeks before the start date.  Workshop materials will be available in electronic form only. \n\n\nYou must complete Level 1 prior to taking Level 2. \n\n\nApproximately one week before the workshop\, registered participants will receive a link to a private webpage that will include links to handouts and resource materials.  This access will be good for seven days after the workshop has been completed.  Note: workshop handouts can be approximately 200+ pages for Level 1; 150+ pages for Level 2; and 100+ pages for Advanced.  \n\nClinical Workshop Level 1  \nThe Level 1 workshop\, the first part of a series of workshops in the certification program for clinical hypnosis\, is intended for licensed health professionals including physicians\, nurses\, psychologists\, dentists\, counselors\, social workers\, and those in related fields. SUMMARY:ASCH Webinar: Alternatives to Opioids: Self-Management and Hypnotic Pain Modulation Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Register Here!\nASCH Webinar\n Alternatives to Opioids: Self-Management and Hypnotic Pain Modulation Strategies \nInformation\nDate: 09/10/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nTime: 7-9 pm ET / 6-8pm CT \nContinuing Education (CE) Hours: 2* \n*To receive credit for this webinar\, you will be required to take a pre-test\, post-test and an end of event survey. All items will be shared with you via email.  \nDescription: The incidence of opioid dependence and opioid use disorder in chronic non-cancer pain patients has been recently estimated to range from one in ten to one in three (Thomas et al\, 2023). With the increased availability of synthetic opioids like fentanyl and the current opioid crisis\, the need for moving patients to lower dosage levels and non-opioid alternatives is paramount.  This workshop will address non-hypnotic and hypnotic approaches to self-management of pain with an initial focus on motivational interviewing to optimize patient readiness and investment in change. Once patients are engaged in the change process\, a range of pain self-management strategies will be reviewed\, along with methods for generalizing and maintaining pain management skills. The workshop will also focus on instruction of multiple hypnotic techniques to be systematically applied to facilitate patient mastery and empowerment over chronic pain. This workshop is suitable for medical and mental health providers with or without experience in pain management.  \nLearning Objectives \nAt the conclusion of this session\, participants will be able to:  \n\nIdentify three motivational interviewing strategies and ways to incorporate MI into hypnotic approaches.  \nDescribe a four-stage treatment approach for stable pain modulation. \nList and apply four hypnotic and non-hypnotic pain modulation strategies. \nDiscuss the importance of desensitization and maintenance strategies for stable pain control.  \n\n\nSpeaker\nThis webinar will be presented by Louis Damis\, PhD\, ABPP\, FASCH. Dr. Damis is a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology\, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology\, the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance\, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. SUMMARY:Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction.
DESCRIPTION:Organization: ASCH \nWebsite: asch.net \nEvent Title: Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-‎Gut Interaction \nAgenda: 8pm-10pm EST \nDates: June 25th\, 2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: info@asch.net \nPrice: non-members: $65 \nMember: $55 \nRegistration Link: https://portal.asch.net/integratedEvents/home/GUT-FEELINGS-PART-II-CLINICAL-HYPNOSIS-FOR-COMPREHENSIVE-TREATMENT-OF-DISORDERS-OF-BRAIN-GUT-INTERACTION \n  \nAbstract: Clinical hypnosis has reliably been found to produce both short- and long-term treatment ‎benefits for functional gastrointestinal disorders (i.e.\, functional dyspepsia\, functional ‎abdominal pain\, and irritable bowel syndrome). Moreover\, as various physiological and ‎autonomic nervous system variables have been found to contribute to these gastrointestinal ‎disorders\, they have more appropriately been labeled Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction ‎‎(DBGI). However\, the exact mechanisms of action that result in such hypnotic intervention ‎benefits have remained elusive. ‎\nThis webinar will review the empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of various gut-‎directed clinical hypnosis strategies\, address possible mechanisms of action\, and outline ‎these techniques for participant use. Research will be reviewed on a polyvagal-based ‎hypnotic intervention effective with brain-gut interaction disorders. Moreover\, the polyvagal ‎model and this technique are also relevant to treating trauma\, fibromyalgia\, inflammatory\, ‎and other pain disorders. ‎\nAs the incidence of trauma and childhood adverse experiences is common in DGBI and ‎persistent pain\, identification of specific life events contributing to somatic distress and the ‎application of memory reconsolidation update techniques will be reviewed to more ‎comprehensively resolve Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction.‎\n \n  \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the completion of this webinar\, participants will be able to:‎\n‎1)‎ List the relevant diagnostic criteria for two brain-gut interaction disorders.‎\n‎2)‎ Cite three references providing empirical support for using clinical hypnosis to treat ‎functional gastrointestinal disorders.‎\n‎3)‎ List four hypnotic suggestions that have empirical support for reducing IBS symptoms.‎\n‎4)‎ Explain the relationship of the polyvagal theory to brain-gut interaction disorders ‎and outline a relevant hypnotic intervention found to be effective in reducing DGBI ‎symptoms.‎\n‎5)‎ Apply the cognitive bridge technique to identify contributing remote experiences.‎\n‎6)‎ Apply two memory reconsolidation update strategies for relevant trauma ‎experiences.‎

SUMMARY:ASCH Advanced Workshop: Facilitation and Clinical Use of Mystical Experiences in Hypnosis ‎
DESCRIPTION:June 2025 Advanced Clinical Workshop: Facilitation and Clinical Use of Mystical Experiences in Hypnosis \nJune 13\, 2025 – 10:00 AM ET-2:00 PM ET \nRegister Here \nWith the popularity of psychedelic-assisted therapy on the rise\, more and more people are seeking a type of intervention that involves powerful and profound experiences used to cultivate lasting change. These experiences are often called “mystical experiences” or “peak spiritual experiences” and typically contain a sense of positive mood\, unity\, transcendence of time/space\, and ineffability. During this workshop presentation\, participants will receive a general overview of mystical experiences\, review a newly proposed theoretical framework for the clinical use of mystical experiences\, and learn about past research on the use of hypnosis to induce mystical experiences. Participants will be invited to participate in a hypnotic procedure designed to facilitate a mystical experience. Results from a recent study aimed at establishing the feasibility of a hypnosis intervention for a mystical experience will be discussed. Participants will also engage in experiential portions where they will design and deliver suggestions for a mystical experience. \nAt the conclusion of the event\, learners will be able to: \n\nDescribe what mystical experiences typically entail and what past/recent research says about facilitating these experiences with hypnosis only.\nConstruct a theoretical rationale for the use of mystical experiences within therapeutic interventions.\nDemonstrate the ability to design and deliver suggestions to integrate mystical elements into psychotherapy\n\nRegister Here \nSpeaker Information \n \nCameron Alldredge\, PhD \nDr. Cameron Alldredge is a licensed psychologist and associate research scientist in the Mind- Body Medicine Research Laboratory at Baylor University.
