SUMMARY:ASCH Webinar: Alternatives to Opioids: Self-Management and Hypnotic Pain Modulation Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Register Here!\nASCH Webinar\n Alternatives to Opioids: Self-Management and Hypnotic Pain Modulation Strategies \nInformation\nDate: 09/10/2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nTime: 7-9 pm ET / 6-8pm CT \nContinuing Education (CE) Hours: 2* \n*To receive credit for this webinar\, you will be required to take a pre-test\, post-test and an end of event survey. All items will be shared with you via email.  \nDescription: The incidence of opioid dependence and opioid use disorder in chronic non-cancer pain patients has been recently estimated to range from one in ten to one in three (Thomas et al\, 2023). With the increased availability of synthetic opioids like fentanyl and the current opioid crisis\, the need for moving patients to lower dosage levels and non-opioid alternatives is paramount.  This workshop will address non-hypnotic and hypnotic approaches to self-management of pain with an initial focus on motivational interviewing to optimize patient readiness and investment in change. Once patients are engaged in the change process\, a range of pain self-management strategies will be reviewed\, along with methods for generalizing and maintaining pain management skills. The workshop will also focus on instruction of multiple hypnotic techniques to be systematically applied to facilitate patient mastery and empowerment over chronic pain. This workshop is suitable for medical and mental health providers with or without experience in pain management.  \nLearning Objectives \nAt the conclusion of this session\, participants will be able to:  \n\nIdentify three motivational interviewing strategies and ways to incorporate MI into hypnotic approaches.  \nDescribe a four-stage treatment approach for stable pain modulation. \nList and apply four hypnotic and non-hypnotic pain modulation strategies. \nDiscuss the importance of desensitization and maintenance strategies for stable pain control.  \n\n\nSpeaker\nThis webinar will be presented by Louis Damis\, PhD\, ABPP\, FASCH. Dr. Damis is a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology\, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology\, the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance\, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is an Assistant Professor at the UCF College of Medicine\, and an ESTI-accredited Ego State Therapist. Dr. Damis is a licensed psychologist with ASCH Consultant Status and Certification in Clinical Hypnosis. SUMMARY:ASCH Level 1 & Level 2 Workshop
DESCRIPTION:ASCH Level 1 & Level 2 Workshop  \nThursday\, September 18th  – Sunday\, September 21st    \nOur Clinical Hypnosis training program offers a progressive series of workshops designed to equip licensed health professionals with skills to incorporate clinical hypnosis into their practices. In the Level 1 workshop\, participants learn the foundational principles and techniques of hypnosis\, including inductions\, suggestions\, and therapeutic strategies\, guided by experienced faculty from various health disciplines. This course blends presentations\, demonstrations\, and hands-on practice to provide basic skills for immediate application. Building on this foundation\, the Level 2 workshop delves deeper into clinical hypnosis\, expanding on “how to” by adding the “when\, why\, and where” for techniques\, especially for specific populations and complex cases like pain and anxiety management. Advanced skills such as complex inductions and the nuanced use of suggestion language are explored with expert feedback. For those seeking continued growth\, Advanced Workshops offered throughout the year cover specialized topics\, including behavioral medicine and mind-body integration\, enabling participants to further enhance and apply their skills in targeted areas. Each level builds confidence\, competence\, and the ability to provide patient-centered\, integrative care  \nImportant Notes  \n\nRegister for only ONE Workshop – Participants are expected to attend all days. \n\n\nDetailed workshop schedules\, faculty and other materials will be available to participants\, online\, two weeks before the start date.  Workshop materials will be available in electronic form only. \n\n\nYou must complete Level 1 prior to taking Level 2. \n\n\nApproximately one week before the workshop\, registered participants will receive a link to a private webpage that will include links to handouts and resource materials.  This access will be good for seven days after the workshop has been completed.  Note: workshop handouts can be approximately 200+ pages for Level 1; 150+ pages for Level 2; and 100+ pages for Advanced.  \n\nClinical Workshop Level 1  \nThe Level 1 workshop\, the first part of a series of workshops in the certification program for clinical hypnosis\, is intended for licensed health professionals including physicians\, nurses\, psychologists\, dentists\, counselors\, social workers\, and those in related fields. A diverse faculty from a range of health disciplines will teach the principles and process of hypnotic inductions\, suggestions\, and treatment. The workshop is a mix of didactic presentations\, demonstrations\, experiential exercises\, and faculty-led small group practice tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each participant. DESCRIPTION:Register Here!\nAdvanced Workshop : When Intuition Meets Hypnosis: An Integrative\, Relational Approach to Healing Trauma with the CORE model \nDates: September 26th and 27th\, Held virtually \nTime: 10am- 3pm ET each day \nAGENDA: Agenda for 2-day course \nCE hours: 8 \nPrice: $470 Member\, $675 Non-Member\, $470 Grad & Resident/Intern \nDescription: The events of life cannot be changed; however\, when the intuitive resources of the unconscious mind are integrated with the methodologies of Hypnosis\, perceptions can be altered\, meanings can be reframed\, and healing can occur. This two-day didactic and experiential workshop will introduce the four components of the CORE Model: Connect\, Orient\, Resource\, Establish\, an innovative\, relational approach that creates a context of attunement in which therapeutic alliances can be safely established and securely thrive. In this compassionate environment\, hypnosis methodologies\, utilized along with the intuitive guidance of both clinician and client\, develop a fertile foundation for the unconscious mind and the conscious mind to do their best work.
