SUMMARY:ASCH Advanced Workshop: Facilitation and Clinical Use of Mystical Experiences in Hypnosis ‎
DESCRIPTION:June 2025 Advanced Clinical Workshop: Facilitation and Clinical Use of Mystical Experiences in Hypnosis \nJune 13\, 2025 – 10:00 AM ET-2:00 PM ET \nRegister Here \nWith the popularity of psychedelic-assisted therapy on the rise\, more and more people are seeking a type of intervention that involves powerful and profound experiences used to cultivate lasting change. These experiences are often called “mystical experiences” or “peak spiritual experiences” and typically contain a sense of positive mood\, unity\, transcendence of time/space\, and ineffability. During this workshop presentation\, participants will receive a general overview of mystical experiences\, review a newly proposed theoretical framework for the clinical use of mystical experiences\, and learn about past research on the use of hypnosis to induce mystical experiences. Participants will be invited to participate in a hypnotic procedure designed to facilitate a mystical experience. Results from a recent study aimed at establishing the feasibility of a hypnosis intervention for a mystical experience will be discussed. Participants will also engage in experiential portions where they will design and deliver suggestions for a mystical experience. \nAt the conclusion of the event\, learners will be able to: \n\nDescribe what mystical experiences typically entail and what past/recent research says about facilitating these experiences with hypnosis only.\nConstruct a theoretical rationale for the use of mystical experiences within therapeutic interventions.\nDemonstrate the ability to design and deliver suggestions to integrate mystical elements into psychotherapy\n\nRegister Here \nSpeaker Information \n \nCameron Alldredge\, PhD \nDr. Cameron Alldredge is a licensed psychologist and associate research scientist in the Mind- Body Medicine Research Laboratory at Baylor University. He teaches psychology classes on both an undergraduate- and graduate-level and runs a small private practice that focuses on hypnotherapy and non-ordinary states of consciousness. Dr. Alldredge has received multiple awards including APA Division 30’s recognition for ground-breaking early career contributions to the advancement of scientific hypnosis and the Stanley Krippner Award from the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. He has published dozens of scientific articles on clinical hypnosis and has led countless workshops and trainings for the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. \nDisclosure of Financial Relationships and Mitigation Plan \nIn compliance with ACCME standards\, ASCH ensures the transparency of financial relationships to identify\, mitigate\, and resolve any potential conflicts of interest. \nDisclosure: \nDr. Alldredge has disclosed the following financial relationships within the past 24 months: \n\nConsultant for Mesmerize Application\nAuthor of the book Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy: What You Need to Know\n\nMitigation Strategies: \nTo mitigate any potential bias related to these financial relationships\, ASCH has implemented the following steps: \n\nAn independent subject matter expert will review all presentation materials prior to the event to ensure they are free from bias. Any identified bias will be removed.\nThe ASCH Education Manager will be present during the live event to monitor for any bias and address it immediately if it occurs.\n\nBy taking these measures\, ASCH ensures that all educational content is balanced\, evidence-based\, and free from commercial influence. \nImportant Notes \n\nDetailed workshop schedules\, faculty and other materials will be available to participants\, online\, two weeks before the start date.  Workshop materials will be available in electronic form only.\n\n\nApproximately one week before the workshop\, registered participants will receive a link to a private webpage that will include links to handouts and resource materials.  This access will be good for seven days after the workshop has been completed.\n\nAdvanced Schedule \n(All times listed are in EST. Times are subject to minor changes) \n\n\n\nFriday\, June 13\, 2025\n10:00 AM-2:00 PM ET\n\n\n\n  \nAn agenda with faculty assignments will be sent to registrants approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the live course date. \nRegister here \n  \nDetails and Fees \n\n\n\nCourse\nMember\nNon-Member\nResident/Intern/Fellow\nGraduate Student\n\n\nAdvanced\n$200\n$300\n$150\n$150\n\n\n\n  \nRegistration Instructions \nOnline registration will take you to the ASCH site and require a new account set-up (non-members) or Member login.  If you are an ASCH member enter the email address associated with your ASCH Membership as our UserID; click Forgot Password to set a new password. \nPayments can now be made in a secure online environment.  The system DOES NOT save credit card information once the transaction has been completed and registration submitted. \nContinuing Education Hours \nOnline attendance\, full engagement and completion of a pre-test\, post-test and daily program evaluations are required for a certificate of completion. SUMMARY:Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction.
DESCRIPTION:Organization: ASCH \nWebsite: asch.net \nEvent Title: Gut Feelings Part II: Clinical Hypnosis for Comprehensive Treatment of Disorders of Brain-‎Gut Interaction \nAgenda: 8pm-10pm EST \nDates: June 25th\, 2025 \nLocation: Virtual \nCE: 2.0 \nContact: info@asch.net \nPrice: non-members: $65 \nMember: $55 \nRegistration Link: https://portal.asch.net/integratedEvents/home/GUT-FEELINGS-PART-II-CLINICAL-HYPNOSIS-FOR-COMPREHENSIVE-TREATMENT-OF-DISORDERS-OF-BRAIN-GUT-INTERACTION \n  \nAbstract: Clinical hypnosis has reliably been found to produce both short- and long-term treatment ‎benefits for functional gastrointestinal disorders (i.e.\, functional dyspepsia\, functional ‎abdominal pain\, and irritable bowel syndrome). Moreover\, as various physiological and ‎autonomic nervous system variables have been found to contribute to these gastrointestinal ‎disorders\, they have more appropriately been labeled Disorders of Brain-Gut Interaction ‎‎(DBGI). However\, the exact mechanisms of action that result in such hypnotic intervention ‎benefits have remained elusive. ‎\nThis webinar will review the empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of various gut-‎directed clinical hypnosis strategies\, address possible mechanisms of action\, and outline ‎these techniques for participant use. Research will be reviewed on a polyvagal-based ‎hypnotic intervention effective with brain-gut interaction disorders. Moreover\, the polyvagal ‎model and this technique are also relevant to treating trauma\, fibromyalgia\, inflammatory\, ‎and other pain disorders. ‎\nAs the incidence of trauma and childhood adverse experiences is common in DGBI and ‎persistent pain\, identification of specific life events contributing to somatic distress and the ‎application of memory reconsolidation update techniques will be reviewed to more ‎comprehensively resolve Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction.‎\n \n  \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the completion of this webinar\, participants will be able to:‎\n‎1)‎ List the relevant diagnostic criteria for two brain-gut interaction disorders.‎\n‎2)‎ Cite three references providing empirical support for using clinical hypnosis to treat ‎functional gastrointestinal disorders.‎\n‎3)‎ List four hypnotic suggestions that have empirical support for reducing IBS symptoms.‎\n‎4)‎ Explain the relationship of the polyvagal theory to brain-gut interaction disorders ‎and outline a relevant hypnotic intervention found to be effective in reducing DGBI ‎symptoms.‎\n‎5)‎ Apply the cognitive bridge technique to identify contributing remote experiences.‎\n‎6)‎ Apply two memory reconsolidation update strategies for relevant trauma ‎experiences.‎
