SUMMARY:ASCH Level 1 and Level 2 Virtual Clinical Workshops

Sign up for Level 2 via our new portal – Register Here\n\nLevel 1 Information\nOur Clinical Hypnosis training program offers a progressive series of workshops designed to equip licensed health professionals with skills to incorporate clinical hypnosis into their practices. In the Level 1 workshop\, participants learn the foundational principles and techniques of hypnosis\, including inductions\, suggestions\, and therapeutic strategies\, guided by experienced faculty from various health disciplines. This course blends presentations\, demonstrations\, and hands-on practice to provide basic skills for immediate application.  \nImportant Notes  \n\nParticipants are expected to attend and be engaged all days. These sessions are not recorded.\n\n\nDetailed workshop schedules\, faculty and other materials will be available to participants\, online\, one – two weeks before the start date.  Workshop materials will be available in electronic form only. \n\n\nApproximately one week before the workshop\, registered participants will receive a link to a private webpage that will include links to handouts and resource materials.\n\nClinical Workshop Level 1  \nThe Level 1 workshop\, the first part of a series of workshops in the certification program for clinical hypnosis\, is intended for licensed health professionals including physicians\, nurses\, psychologists\, dentists\, counselors\, social workers\, and those in related fields. A diverse faculty from a range of health disciplines will teach the principles and process of hypnotic inductions\, suggestions\, and treatment. The workshop is a mix of didactic presentations\, demonstrations\, experiential exercises\, and faculty-led small group practice tailored to the specific needs and learning styles of each participant. She completed her graduate work at George Washington University and started her career at the Washington Pain and Rehabilitation Center in Washington\, DC. She went from there to VCU Health System in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as a rehab psychologist\, providing services to a full range of rehabilitation patients on both the inpatient and outpatient service. She left VCU to work in an interdisciplinary pain clinic in the community and later went into private practice. In 2000\, she joined the medical psychology department at Sheltering Arms Hospital\, first as a staff psychologist and later as director of the department\, a post she held for 10 years.  She has recently returned to the VCU Dept. of PMR and is currently working as part of an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System to provide services to patients with chronic pain due to a variety of medical conditions. She provides evaluations and psychological treatment for the management of chronic pain.  \nOther faculty include: \n \nLinda Thomson\, PhD\, APRN\, ABMH\, ABHN\, FASCH – Linda Thomson is a nurse practitioner and past president of ASCH. She is an Approved Consultant and senior faculty member for ASCH. Thomson is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Medical Hypnosis and the American Board of Hypnosis in Nursing\, and a Fellow of both ASCH and the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Association. She is president of the Northeastern Mountain Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Thomson serves on the Council of Representatives for the International Society of Hypnosis. She is the recipient of ASCH Lifetime Achievement Award. She is the founder of Hypnosis for Health and Healing and co-founder of Hypnovations: Clinical Hypnosis Education and Training. Harry Hypnopotamus – Metaphorical Tales for Children\, Volumes 1 & 2 were written by Thomson. She also created Harry Hypnopotamus Imagination Cards\, Learning the Lingo of Language Cards\, and Stress-Free Surgery – a program to help patients prepare for and recover from surgery.  \n \nEric Willmarth\, PhD – Dr. Willmarth is a past-president of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis as well as the past-president of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and the Society for Psychological Hypnosis (APA Div. 30). He is a full professor at Saybrook University where he serves as the Chair of the Department of Applied Psychophysiology and the Coordinator of the Integrative Mental Health Specialization. More faculty and small group information will be provided closer to the course’s start. \n Level 2 Information\nRegister on our new portal – Register Here\nThe second step in certification training is to strengthen skills\, strategies\, and applications of clinical hypnosis. Part one taught “how to” do clinical hypnosis\, and part two builds on this skill set and refines and furthers development to add the when\, why\, and where to the “how-to”. \nAdvantages: \n\nIntroduction to a wider range of topics on the utility of clinical hypnosis (e.g.\, Pain Management; Anxiety and Sleep Disorders; Habit Disorders).\nLearn more techniques for the creative use of the language of suggestion to facilitate change.\nLearn specific tools (complex inductions and intensification techniques) for specific populations (children).\nMore practice with the feedback of expert faculty.\n\nThe Level 2 workshop increases skills and builds confidence in the use of hypnosis. Dr. Damis is a Diplomate with the American Board of Professional Psychology\, a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Health Psychology\, the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance\, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is an Assistant Professor at the UCF College of Medicine\, and an ESTI-accredited Ego State Therapist. Dr. Damis is a licensed psychologist with ASCH Consultant Status and Certification in Clinical Hypnosis. He is a Past President of the Florida and Washington DC Societies of Clinical Hypnosis and is currently the President of the ASCH. He has taught hypnosis for over 25 years for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis\, the Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis\, and the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
