The workshop is designed as a unique in-person\, small-group learning opportunity. The syllabus is designed so that the CE hours may count as the Level 1 Basic training that is a required component towards ASCH certification in Clinical Hypnosis. This workshop strictly follows the most up-to-date ASCH-ERF Standards of Training for a Level 1 workshop and proposes 21.5 hours of CE hours. \nThe curriculum includes all didactic educational topics and experiential group practice exercises required by ASCH-ERF in a Level 1/Basic Clinical Hypnosis Workshop. We will define hypnosis\, offer a brief history of hypnosis\, and correct common misperceptions about the natural process of hypnosis and brain state of trance. An overview of the neuroscience of the trance state will be offered. Participants will be shown various demonstrations of the hypnotic process\, utilizing both audience volunteers and video recordings of work with actual clients (with client consent). Each stage of the hypnotic process will be taught\, explored\, and practiced. The workshop will include four separate small group practice sessions\, with at least one practice session taking place on each of the workshop days. Special attention will be given to ethics\, treatment planning\, and integrating clinical hypnosis into clinical practice\, as these topics are especially relevant to mental health practitioners. \nAgenda and Learning Objectives: \nFriday\, September 12th  \n1. An experienced faculty will offer thorough didactic\, experiential\, and practical supervised learning. Three supervised small group practices with no more than six participants will provide ample opportunity to refresh and expand formal hypnotic elicitation\, intensification\, utilization\, and realerting/reorienting skills. Participants will have the opportunity to increase their understanding of the clinical decision making processes inherent to offering competent\, effective\, and constructive hypnosis in a variety of clinical situations\, including the treatment of traumatized and dissociated persons. This training will address insight-oriented and exploratory hypnotic techniques; specific hypnotic approaches to working with trauma and dissociation; the management of physical discomfort and pain; strategies for affect regulation; working hypnotically with children and child parts of the mind. Participants will be introduced to ideomotor signalling\, ideomotor inquiry and other exploratory hypnotic techniques\, and will have the opportunity to refine their hypnotic language abilities. This training is open to a maximum of 30 participants. Registrants will be licensed clinicians or students of a health care discipline attending an accredited institution\, and will have completed an ASCH approved 20 hours of L1/BASIC/FUNDAMENTAL training in clinical hypnosis.
