Description: This program consists of interviews by the presenter with professionals in the field who have experience with hypnosis and/or psychedelics, with a special focus on one practitioner who has combined the two in therapy. It will also discuss two assessments regarding altered states of consciousness. Group discussion and polling will center on the future of these modalities in therapy.

  1. Compare and contrast the therapeutic uses of hypnosis, psychedelics, and combined modalities.
  2. Identify two assessments that can be used for measuring altered states of consciousness.
  3. Decide based on multiple factors the future prospects of this potentially growing treatment arena.

Bio: Darlene Viggiano is a part-time adjunct faculty member of Saybrook University and a consultant with the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She has been a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and the American Psychological Association Division 30 (Hypnosis), from which she won an Early Career Contribution Award.
