PUBLIC LIBRARY DISCLAIMER

This American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) public library web site is designed to provide accurate and helpful information about hypnosis. Statements and opinions expressed are those of the authors and not necessarily those of ASCH, any of its officers, members or employees.

ASCH assumes no responsibility or liability arising from any error or omission, or from the use of any information contained on this web site.

The ASCH PUBLIC LIBRARY is open to the general public, and to all professionals in health care.

If you are a member of the general public, you are welcome to search for information on hypnosis.

It is ASCH’s position that clinical hypnosis is best provided by a professional with health care training, a doctorate or master’s degree, license by a State, and advanced study in hypnosis. Hypnosis alone is not a treatment; it is a way to enhance treatment effects. There may be possible side effects. The person providing hypnosis should be qualified to provide treatment without using hypnosis.

Appropriate hypnosis providers include but are not limited to licensed physicians, dentists, psychologists, social workers and nurses. You can ask about the provider’s training. A care provider who is a member of ASCH is qualified to use hypnosis and has met strict criteria including state or province licensure.
